After the shocking realization, we decided to pay a visit to Leone and tell him what we knew. Let's just say that he didn't exactly welcome the news with open arms, but I have to keep trying...
Tess and I stood each at either side of Leone. His room space at the station was a lot bigger than the one he had at Daily Times. There was his desk with a single chair at one side, and two others at the other side which I imagined came along with the mahogany desk. A single fluorescent bulb hung on the ceiling supposedly meant for interrogation, but since the day's ball radiating an enormous amount of energy and light literally brightened the day, it was switched off.
I could also see the map of the world hanging on the wall with the calendar and some significant dates crossed with red ink. Old newspapers from a decade ago, loitered his wooden desk along with other pictures of prospective suspects and murder scenes. My eyes couldn't help but search for the result from the lab analysis. I saw a knife sealed in a plastic bag that must have been the knife Edward used. Since it was officially the first time I had been to Leone's office at the station, I had to get a bit acclimated to the basics. I looked back at Leone. He had been busy running through the printed copies of his supposed twin.
"See, the birth dates match. Leone, the mystery lookalike guy is your twin."
"This is crazy," he replied, shaking his head in disbelief.
"I know, but you are going to get through this. I'll help you and we will find him," I said as I patted his back and exchanged a look with an already uncomfortable Tess.
"No! I mean you going through my stuffs is crazy. How could you Maya?"
"I was only trying to help."
"You knew about this, didn't you?" he asked shifting his gaze towards Tess.
"What? Don't look at me. I told her to stop digging, but she is actually right. I mean all evidences are pointing to the fact that there are two of you," Tess said in defence.
"Listen, if I were a twin, I would have known because my mom doesn't keep anything from me."
"Well... Just a few hundred thousands things she wouldn't," Tess replied having most carefully buried within her breath.
"What are you talking about?" he asked confused turning to the both of us.
"What Tess is trying to say," I started, pressing the balls of my eyes intently at Tess. A move we both understand to be 'keep it low' before I finished up, "maybe your mom did keep some things to herself for your good. We know that you know your father was killed by members of a secret cult; The Arch, but I figured out that even though you think know everything you need to know, you don't actually know much. You became a detective so you could dig into the country's top notch criminals and find the person who killed your father. What if I told you I knew the person, but there is more to learn than just plan a revenge scheme that will most certainly fail. There is a lot to know, and the only person that can tell us everything we need to know, is your mom."
"I don't want to bring her into all these. She went through a depressing phase when she lost my dad already. She has nothing to do with this."
"She has everything to do with this. Leone you have to trust us," Tess replied.
He shot me a look and I nodded in apparent agreement to what Tess said. I watched him bring out a pen from a blue mug that housed a couple of other stationeries and carefully tore out from the end of a paper to scribble down something; it was her house address.
"Ohio really? You never told me she lived there." Tess was the first to react.
"She moved recently. She said she needed to start anew; this place has brought so many bad memories."
