*screams*
I wake up to Aku bursting through my bedroom door

"Neoma, let's go. We have to leave now." I look at Aku, confused

"Where's mom and dad? Where are we going?" I watch as he gathers as much of my clothes as he can and Luna's diaper bag

"No time, we have to leave now!"  He takes Luna out of her bassinet and grabs my hand
It was dark. The only light I saw was the fire set to one of the family houses through the window. At the end of the stairs, my mother was waiting for us

"Mom, what's going on?" I couldn't help the tears that started streaming down my face in fear

"Shh Ne, the pack is under attack right now. We need to get you guys to a safe place." she kisses my forehead for the last time

"You're c-coming too, right?" I ask she didn't say anything. She just looked at me like she was trying to memorize every feature on my face; a tear rolled down her face, and that's when I knew I'd never see my mom again
She turns to Aku, " I need you to protect them; from now on, you're an alpha, and they are your pack, ok son?" She sniffles and runs her hand through his hair. " yes, Mom," Aku nods, Letting his tears fall.

My mother pulls all of us into a tight hug and rests her head on our forehead. "I will always be with you" she whispers. She pulls away, removes her necklace, and puts it around my neck. "for protection, " she gently wipes the tear streaming down my face "Now go." Aku grabs my hand and takes us out the back door.

I observed all the children from the pack house fleeing as their parents fought off the intruders to give them a head start. I squeezed Aku's hand and assured him, "It's okay; I'm going to protect you guys, I promise." After nodding, he waited for the right moment to run into the forest. We headed to the huge oak tree on the pack's property, where our dad had taught us how to track, shift, and build our treehouse. Beside the tree, I saw my best friend Matt and his older brother Marcus. Marcus hushed me and pointed to his left, where a rogue wolf, with ash grey fur stained with the blood of my pack mates, was searching for the fleeing children.

My wolf howled in pain, and I started shaking.

Aku embraced me and Luna, and then he and Marcus exchanged looks, after which Marcus nodded. Carefully, Marcus glanced at Matt and kissed him on the forehead. I watched as tears streamed down Matt's face as Marcus wiped them away and whispered into his ear.

He pulls away and walks towards the wolf.
