Neoma

It's unbelievable how suddenly it happens. It's like when you're running as fast as you can as a child, and you feel like you could fly, but then suddenly fall, momentarily knocking your breath out.

It's like when you're on a rollercoaster at the very top, and you drop for those few seconds of anticipation. It's like that when you meet them...

It's scary, thrilling, unique even.

When I looked into his eyes, I knew he was meant for me with every fiber of my being. It felt as if the Goddess had created him just for me to show her love for me. Honestly, I'm scared. I've lost so many people.

How could I let him in without being a casualty in a war I have yet to understand?

But looking at his eyes, I feel safe, protected, wanted, like the only girl in the world.

It's wild that I feel this way, and I don't even know his name. I can picture our life together in an open field with our children running around and your youngest resting in my arms as he kisses my forehead.

Apart from me, I wonder if I'm imagining our lives or a memory of my parents together because, let's face it, my life has been a series of unfortunate events. My happy endings don't say happy.

Mate, my wolf howls with joy.

This is something I thought would never happen to me, and right now, I'm scared shitless.

Matt

Holy shit

I guess I look at Neoma and her mate, and I don't know what to think. I'm in shock.

I feel eyes glaring behind me. I see Aku's livid expression intensify as the two continue to look into each other's eyes. I quickly get to him before he does something stupid.

"Outside." I push him out the front door, trying not to make a scene; he paces back and forth. "Aku, there's nothing we can do. This is beyond anyone," he continues to walk. "this is her destiny."

"YOU DON'T THINK I KNOW THIS," he snaps. "Calm down, I'm just saying," he stops pacing and runs his hands through his hair. "I know... I wasn't expecting to lose her, that's all. She's my sister," he looks off. "Not to mention her mate in is a little prick." He sits on the front steps, looking down at his hands. "Are you gonna be alright?" He nods. "Yeah, I just need a minute." I squeeze his shoulder and head back inside.

Neoma and her new mate are at the top of the steps. "My son has chosen his Luna to help guide our pack. Let us welcome her with open arms," the room erupts with applause. The new couple disappears with the Alpha and Luna. As the party resumes, I rush to Ava and ask, "Hey, do you know where they are going?" She looks over at her friend, who is sobbing uncontrollably and frozen in place, then whispers in my ear, "They've gone to a suite on the fourth floor to get to know each other and... other stuff. No one will be able to see them until Friday afternoon." She then goes to her friend and guides her upstairs.

Avery approaches me. "She'll be fine; I'm worried about Greyson, though. He's never met a girl as strong as her." I raise my eyebrow at her and ask, "What do you mean by that?" She laughs and says, "I mean, he's used to obedience from girls; your friend isn't like that. He has a lot to learn from her. It'll be very entertaining, to say the least." Then she walks off, leaving me confused about how she knows all this, despite only meeting Neoma for 30 minutes. I grab a glass of champagne off one of the tables and down it...

This is going to be interesting.

Neoma

His parents take us to the top floor. The hallway is different from the ones on the other floors. There are four rooms, each with double doors. They lead us to the room at the end of the hall. His father stops at the front door and says, "We'll let you guys get better acquainted with each other." He hands him the key, and they walk away. He opens the door to a vast, beautiful, dimly lit room decorated with black and grey accents, a fireplace, and a balcony overlooking the courtyard. I head to the balcony, looking up at the sky and admiring the crescent moon. Closing my eyes, I breathe in the forest-scented air and try to clear my mind.

"you're beautiful," I turn to him; he hasn't taken his eyes off me this whole time. "thank you, you're not too bad yourself," he chuckles. "I know this is weird, but what's your name?" The way he looks at me makes me nervous, but I want to rip his clothes off at the same time. How is that possible?

"Neoma... yours?" He slowly walks closer to me. "Greyson ... so tell me, my love," he gently glides his finger down my arm, making me shiver. "anything in particular you want to do night?" The intensity of lust in his eyes and the slight bite of his lower lip make me want to know what she feels like. "yes, there is something I want to do." he leans closer to my ear. His body heat radiates over mine. If he thinks he's getting anything, he has another thing coming. I trust closer to his ear, making sure my lips touch him slightly, and whisper, "Sleep." I walk to one of the chairs in front of the fireplace and take off the shoes Ava loaned me. He stares at me. "you know most people do more than sleep." I get off the chair and head into the bathroom. " well, most people didn't just meet." I take off the lashes Ava put on me and grab a washcloth to take off the makeup. He undoes his tie and leans on the door frame, watching my reflection. "You know you're mine, right?" I dry my face and scowl at him in the mirror. "I'm not your property just because I'm your mate." I grab a hair tie from the clear jar on the sink and put my hair in a bun. "I never said you were my love." I reach behind me and undo the zipper in the back of my dress. "do you mind?" He smirks. "What, I can't look?"

I blow air out my nose. "alright, alright, I'll leave you be." he walks away from the door, taking off his jacket. He unbuttoned his shirt, revealing a body that looked like gods crafted it. I watch him admiring his toned physique. He catches me staring and smirks; I roll my eyes and shut the door. I go in the closet for pajamas, only finding lingerie, so I put on one of the shirts meant for him; I open the door to him wearing just pajama pants. "You've got to be shitting me" he looks up from his phone. "What? This is how I usually sleep." I roll my eyes and head for the bed. I get in the bed, creating a pillow border between mine and his side. He chuckles. "you know I'm not going to do anything you don't want to do, right?" I ignore him and try to avoid eye contact; it's taking every fiber of my being not to let him have his way with me. I turn off my lamp and shut my eyes, pretending to be asleep.
I can feel his eyes on me, caressing my body; he leans in, my pulse quickens ( fuck I know he can hear that), and kisses me on the forehead. "Good night, my love, sweet dreams" he whispers.

He turns off his bedside light and goes to sleep.
