Greyson
2:34 pm Thursday
Two days from my 17th birthday, two days from finding my mate. I wonder who she'll be; everyone in the house thinks it will be Anais, which, honestly, I wouldn't mind. She's sexy, intelligent, and beautiful. Plus, it helps that we were dating until two weeks ago; she'd make a great Luna. Curtis (my beta and my best friend) thinks it's Mia. The Idea of that makes me gag. When I imagine my mate, she'll be solid and beautiful; she won't be afraid to be herself, adventurous; she'll eat a full meal in front of me, not like a damn rabbit eating only a salad with dressing on the side', she'll be different from the girls in the pack house, she wouldn't ever be submissive unless she wanted to be. The sex with my mate would be amazing, plus the three weeks of nothing but our naked bodies in our suite is something I look forward to every day. Until then, I have to keep wondering and focusing on learning my duties as the future alpha of my pack. I hope I'm as good as my father. He's a kind, generous leader and a force to be reckoned with; I hope I can lead my pack as well as he has and his father.

"Yo grey, you wanna play some ball?" I snap out of my daydream; I look over to Curtis's side of the room. He's passing his football hand to hand. "yeah, sure," he raises his eyebrow at me. "Daydreaming again?" I sit up and run my hands through my hair. "yeah," he passes me the ball. "let's get outside. It'll take your mind off it." I throw on a shirt and gray sweatpants and leave our room. We walk down the hall and run down the stairs; once we reach the second floor, we bump into Ava (Curtis's girlfriend) and Anais. It's still awkward between us because I ended things knowing she is fascinated with the idea of us being mates; maybe we are only goddess knows. "Hey, Greyson," Ava waves." hey, Ava, hi, Anais." Anais gives me a slight smile and waves at me. Meanwhile, Ava and Curtis whisper sweet nothings in each other's ear.

"How've you been?" She avoids eye contact with me. "fine I guess; I'd be better if I were still with you." she looks at me with her big brown eyes and bites her lip; she only does that when she preventing herself from doing something " you know as well as I do why we can't be together right now" she looks down at her hands "I miss you ... we don't have to officially date or anything we could ... um" I raise my eyebrows and. I run my hand through my hair, which reminds me I must get a haircut. "Listen, Ana, we can't. If you don't end up being my mate, your future Luna would be distraught knowing I was intimate with someone else days before her." it's not like I don't miss her. She's not a bad person; she is, however, highly clingy. She has annoying tendencies I can't quite get over, especially since we dated for almost a year, and I was an asshole breaking up with be the day before our first anniversary.

I had to. I'm not the one that made the rules about this stuff. Plus, my mate is as headstrong as I think she is. She wouldn't like knowing that I continued my relationship with Anais, knowing that I'd meet my mate a month after our anniversary. She nods her head in agreement. "you're right, but after our eyes meet during your ceremony and we are officially mates, I'll show you just how much I've missed you this last month ... come on, Ava, we gotta go," she winks at me and grabs Ava's pulling her away from Curtis. Curtis keeps his eyes glued on Ava as she walks away like he's in a trance, something I've been used to. It's weird that he only dated two girls before Ava, which was when we were 13, but when he found Ava, it's like he got comfortable. "Curt ... Curtis," I hit his stomach. "snap out of it." he looked at me. "jeez, Grey, I was just trying to savor her scent." I shook my head. "it's not like you don't see her every five minutes." we walked down the stairs and headed to the open field in the back of the pack house.

4:00 pm

After a few plays, she headed back inside and hit the showers. I haven't seen or heard from my father all day, which doesn't usually mean something serious is happening. He'll probably fill me in later. In the meantime, I could brush up on my studies or play some fortnight. I grab my room key and head to the pack's library, where we house all of the pack's history and other legendary pack history, which is the origin of some of our traditions.
