Matt
Marcus: we have to create a diversion to get them out of here
Aku: I'll do it... bring the pups to the safe house. I'll hold him off.
Marcus: No ...
Aku: No? As future alpha I-
Marcus: as future Alpha, you need to be here to preserve our pack; I'll hold him off
Aku looks at my brother.
Aku: are you sure?
Marcus: ... yeah
Marcus looks at me, and I start shaking my head.
Marcus: it was an honor to be your big brother; I promised always to be there when you needed me. And I always will be in your heart. When I shift, go with Aku and run as fast as you can.
Tears start streaming down my face; I'm losing my last piece of family. He's my brother, my role model, my best friend...
Marcus presses his forehead against mine.
Marcus: you must live brother,I nod and look at my brother for the last time; his deep emerald eyes are red from tears. He looks at Aku and shakes his head, slowly walking towards the wolf. Everything seems to move in slow motion as I watch my brother sacrifice himself for us; the wolf notices Marcus and emits a low growl. Marcus takes off his shirt and starts picking up speed, and the wolf follows suit.
Marcus shifts in mid-air, running towards the wolf. I quickly ran to Aku and Neoma. I watch as the rogue attacks my brother's wolf... my wolf howls. I watch him fight as hard as he can until the wolf bites his throat; our eyes link.
Marcus: Matt... run...
Aku pulled me by the arm, and we ran for it ... that was the last time I saw my brother alive. We ran towards the main road where most humans travel into town.
"I can't carry her anymore," Neoma says. We stop. Aku looks around cautiously and kneels to her level. "hold on." he takes the blanket she's wrapped in and wraps it around his body. "Put her here," he tells Neoma. She carefully placed Luna on the blanket on Aku's chest; he covered it again, tying it tightly. "How do you know how to do that?" I ask. He looks up at me. "It helps to be a visual person. I've watched my mom do it." he looks around again. "Let's go, we're almost there." I nod my head, and we start running.
I trip on an exposed tree root, cutting my knee. Aku and Neoma look back."Are you ok, Matt?" She asks, "Yeah, I just cut myself a little." Neoma comes to my side tea, rs a piece of her sleeve, and wraps it around my knee; I smile. "Thanks." I look at Aku, staring straight ahead at a pack of wolves in the distance. "Get up... get up NOW!" He orders Neoma, and I quickly start running.
We were running as fast as possible in our human form, with a wolf approaching on each side. A dark brown wolf stopped us, while other wolves began to circle around us. Aku instinctively moved his body in front of Neoma's and mine, slowly pushing us back to the tree.
Wolf#1 ~ well, look what we have here. He growls
Wolf #2 ~ looks like a nice snack if you ask me
Wolf # 3 ~ I want to keep the girl. She'll be fun to ... play with
Wolf #4 ~ no one touches them until Alpha gets here. I understood
I hold Neoma's hand as the wolves continue to surround us, praying to the moon goddess for a miracle ...
