“Hey mom” Amina said to her mother walking through the door just getting off of her long shift.

“Hey sweetie. How was your day today?” Amina’s mother spoke drinking coffee at 5:30 pm, reading the newspaper that was slightly crumpled.

What the hell?

Amina stood froze. She was quite surprised.

How was your day?

Amina didn’t know what to do. For a second, there she thought she had the wrong house. Until, she saw from the corner of her eye her blue blouse, on the floor peeking from behind, the ajar door.

First off, who the hell was this woman sitting at my dining room table? And read? The only time my mom ever read was when my checks came in and/or the bills.

“Umm... My day was ok?”

“What about yours?” Amina asked trying to get on the good side with her mother.

“It was awesome! And I have some great news for you!” Amina’s mom said a little too enthusiastic.

Uhhhh! What now!

“Really? What is it?”

“Were moving Cashmere!”

……..

“What do you mean were moving? To where, you and I both know that we have no money! And what about me! All my family and friends are here?” Amina shouted in one breath.

“Trust me, everything’s going to be fine we don’t have to leave right away just ask your boss for a raise or give him a “raise” and we’ll have the money within no time” Amina’s mother said with ease and coolness.

I know she did not just ask me to trick myself for a raise?

“And besides you don’t have any friends. All of our family is dead to us, so you’re just left with me”.

Yeah that’s the bad part.

“Are you with it or not Cashmere?” she responded becoming irritated with amina’s delayed answering.

“No” amina spoke with self-confidence.

“Well, there is a Plan B. If you don’t agree, you can leave right now or, do as mommy say” she said with a wicked smile.

Amina stood there weighing her options. There was no way I was having sex with my boss ewww! Maybe I could stay with a friend, but whom?

“Without a second thought, amina walked, quickly past her mother into her messy room gathering all of her belongings into a suitcase”.

“So I suppose you’re leaving? Hahaha” she laughed.

“Trust me honey it won’t be long before you come running back to mommy”. She said confidently.

“Probably by then you’ll be coming home with a baby, by some broke down bum ass nigga that you spread your nasty legs for “she snarled with hatred.

Still being the obedient child she was, Amina never once responded to her mother in a disrespectful tone.  She just packed her things trying to leave quickly just as her mother asked. There was no use in trying, to talk some sense into her.

A hood rat is always going to be a hood rat. She was born and raised in the hood and had the mindset of a rat. Get the cheddar and keep it moving.

But that wasn’t me. Yeah I went and got mine but I would never forget about the ones that cared that’ll never be me in a million years.

It was just my timing and it was up.

“Come on! Come on! Answer!” amiya yelled to her phone hoping that Lola would eventually answer.

“Where the hell could you possibly be!” amiya yelled once more.

Stuck and stranded was exactly amiya’s situation. She had no place to go, and nobody would answer. Things just fucking sucked.

Three hours passed by and still nothing.

It was starting to get dark and by the look of things I believe I was the only still out here at the bus terminal.

Honestly, I just hate my fucking life. I have no family.

I’ve never knew my dad, my mom’s a hoe, and me, I’m nothing. All I’ve got is the CS gang. But they can’t do shit for me. We all going through different struggles and shit and I’m nearly grown I don’t need to be nobody else charity case anyways.

Thankfully, after awhile the wind started to blow. It was so humid out here; your girl was already sweating her weave out.

To take away the worries I just decided to lean back relax and close my eyes. I tried to think of peace maybe on an island somewhere sinking in the hot blazing sun, but cooling down with the night breeze. And before I knew it I was off to sleep like a baby.

This was actually quite relaxing and probably the best sleep I’ve had in a loooong time.
