"how was lunch?" Calum asked me as we stepped out of the car and onto the busy street of New York
"it was ok I guess" I mumbled closing my door and walking to my brother's side
"are you getting along with Luke ok?" He began to bombard me with question's
"It's manageable"
Calum glanced at me for a second as we walked down the street "thats not all that clear of a response you know?"
I sighed " I do not need a babysitter Calum"
"clearly you do" Calum quickly responded and after that our walk to the pizza shop that we had began was a silent trek.
"One cheese and pepperoni slice and a small Pepsi please" I asked the man behind the counter at the pizza shop before turning to my brother who was paying for our meal "this better be good" as I went to sit down waiting for him to go bring our slices to the table I had picked up.While all of this was occurring the last person I expected to walk into that shop not Luke but Marcus had walked in and this was the time of the year where homecoming was only a few weeks off from happening and due to the semi unfortunate but fortunate event that happed one night me and Marcus became closer and began to hang out more. Marcus had his hand behind his back and walked towards where I was sitting all alone at least it seemed as my brother was standing by the counter still waiting for our pizza.
"Charlotte'' Marcus spoke in a soft tone as he came closer to me I stood up and looked slightly up to make the perfect eye contact with him all my focus went towards him "So I was wondering if you would make me the happiest man and go to homecoming with me?" And as he spoke he unhid his arms and showed me a bouquet of flowers with a card attached to them and placed them in front of me to take
"yes I would love to" my eyes still locked with his and I smiled happily and then proceeded to take the flowers and card from him he smiled back and pulled me into an embrace and I felt like melting in his warmth
"are you busy?" He asked as he slowly detached from me I sighed softly " Im actually about to have dinner with my brother as I shifted my gaze to my brother who just witnessed all this happen and his face seemed paler than a vampires skin Marcus turned around to face my brother and apologized for any incovinace and told me he would talk to me later and he went off on his way just like that.
Calum sat down at our table and set down our food I sat down across from him I watched him begin to eat in silence with me for a solid 5minutes before I began to eat or bring up a word
"I'm sorry" I said so soft he nearly did not catch on
"sorry for what" his tone flat and non expressive made it clear he was hurt from not knowing things occurring in my life
"Marcus" I made it short sweet and simple
"do not worry about it I just wish you would tell me things about who and what is happening in you're life I mean" He paused and glanced at his plate " you used to tell me everything when we lived in Ohio everything all the little details what happed?"
I took a long sip on my Pepsi to give my self time to figure out a good enough believable response to tell him "Im just all over the place I guess It is my senior year a lot is happening more than I can even comprehend"
he sighed and nodded then looked back up at me and smiled " I know its been hard but I am trying "
we finished up our meal and began to walk back to the car and as we got in Marcus texted me asking me if I was still busy I bit my lip my focus still on my phone screen "would you be mad if I went out?" I asked hesitantly
"Go ahead I mean as long as you don't come back drunk or at 1am Im ok with it" referencing to the last time I had gone out at night and with that we began to leave our parking spot and drive back to our apartment building
"Im just going to wait in the lobby because Marcus is going to pick me up soon" Calum nodded staying silent and hugged me goodbye before walking towards the elevator and of course as the elevator opened for my brother with all my luck a Luke Hemings was standing inside it and a quick greeting was thrown between him and my brother as they switched spots leaving me and Hemming in the same space alone not like I needed more time alone with him I already had to deal with him all afternoon and almost daily.
"funny seeing you left alone" hemming chuckled as he stopped walking right beside me he and me both stared out the front door's glass looking out onto the street with tension feeding between us I wanted to break and run right their
"Im going out and yes Calum knows because you just saw him" I said confidently
Luke smirked "so smart char so smart" I turned towards him but he still was looking out the glass
" I told you you cant call me that"
"yeah yeah sure" he mumbled as he watched a white small but fancy car pull up to the apartment building knowing it had to be Marcus he changed the subject "well Im off to work " he quickly added and walked out before I could say another word the white car finished parking and the one who was driving was Marcus.Marcus got out of the car and walked towards the passage door as I walked out of the apartment building and reached the white car
"why hello" Marcus greeted me with a smile
"hello Marcus" I responded and gave him a quick hug before getting into the car and closing the car door and watched him dash to the driver seat and we drove off from there and for the first split second I looked back watching Hemming walking ton the sidewalk I was't sure why but my heart ached a little seeing him walk on his own looking down at the ground.
We drove up onto a Clift that had a view of the whole city it was beyond gorgeous Marcus had a small blanket witch after we got out of the car he placed on the hood and sat down on it and looked at me and nodded at me to join him I smiled and climbed on and sat by him he glanced at me then looked at the stars
"Im so glad you said yes" he paused "I thought you would say no"
I watched him closely waiting to see if he would say anything else but he did't I've now known Marcus for about two months now and even though only recently we've gotten closer I felt this odd energy come off him but I could not tell if it was good or not but I played the night by ear as he scooted closer to me I decided to lay my head on his shoulder and we stayed like this for a good while we laughed and spoke in lovey dove words at time but overall we enjoyed the night. Marcus made sure I was home around 11 and he made sure I made it to my apartment safety and right before he left he kissed my forehead and as he broke away from me he smiled and walked away.
