They moved through town, knocking on the doors of all the La Ligal members.

“There’s a meeting at Mr. Rivera’s house tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.,” Ken Drick announced at each doorstep. The members nodded in acknowledgment before closing their doors.

They arrived at Cody’s home, where he greeted them with a nod and ushered them inside. The mess hall steadily filled as members took their seats, murmuring among themselves. Cody made his way to the head of the table, but a lingering silence followed—Dr. Rizal was nowhere to be seen.

“As Vice President of La Ligal, I have called this meeting on urgent matters,” Cody began, his voice firm.

“What urgent matters, Mr. Rivera?” a voice from the far end of the table asked. It was Dwayne Newhiskey, arms crossed in suspicion.

Cody took a breath. “Dr. Rizal has been arrested for forming this organization.”

The room fell into a heavy silence, as if the air had been sliced through with a knife.

Dwayne leaned forward, eyes narrowed. “And who decided you should take control of La Ligal in his absence?”

Cody met his gaze without hesitation. “Dr. Rizal himself. He told me that if he were ever arrested, I was to take command.”

Dwayne scoffed, shaking his head. “Then our best course of action is to wait for his release.”

Cody, Ken Drick, and Kyra exchanged knowing glances before Ken Drick spoke up. “We saw it with our own eyes, Dr. Rizal was arrested for treason, Dwayne. Do you think they’ll just let him go?”

Cody exhaled sharply, his resolve hardening. “Our only option now is to take action. We must organize a revolution and fight for our independence from Great Britain.”

A wave of tension rippled through the room. Some members nodded in grim agreement, while others, like Dwayne, looked appalled.

“Revolution?” Dwayne shot up from his seat. “First, you seize control of the organization, and now you propose open rebellion? You’re insane.”

Several others stood with him in protest.

Cody remained unfazed. “I understand your hesitation, Mr. Newhiskey, but we have no other choice.”

Dwayne shook his head. “Then there is nothing left to discuss.” He turned on his heel and strode out, a handful of members following.

A heavy silence lingered as the remaining members turned back to Cody.

“What now, Mr. Rivera?” one asked.

Cody reached into his coat, pulling out a document and placing it on the table. “We make it official.”

Ken Drick picked up the parchment and began reading aloud:
