- Carissa and I.J.
There was no reason that Suki could have known that Ethel was allergic to mint, but at the same time, she felt almost... betrayed.
It was an ugly feeling, but a feeling all the same. Suki knew it was trivial and petty to be upset over something like that, but it was a reminder that as close as Ethel and she had been, there were still things that Suki had never known.
Things she would never have a chance to learn.
She sighed, tapping her foot impatiently. Knowing she's need a distraction, Suki had gone shopping, and now she didn't know what to do.
And she wasn't just talking about the clothes.
She hadn't expected to be in New York for so long, and Lucinda was texting her every five minutes with reports about everything.
They ranged in length and importance, from the status of a shipment of drugs to the status of Suki's inbox, to the condition of Lucinda's cat, Mirror.
The most recent text was about a new investor from Los Angeles was asking about arranging a meeting, but was quickly eclipsed by a message about Mirror rolling around on the poker table.
Suki was tempted to turn on her 'Do not Disturb' but settled with shutting her whole phone down. The curvy woman stood up from the bench she'd been sitting on at the shop, and started to browse the many dresses they had on display.
Though she was a gangster, Suki had always preached about how clothing was a different type of weapon, and made sure that all of her people had expensive dress clothes. She made sure that she had brought many different types of apparel to the city, but not enough for the time she was going to be spending, it seemed.
She turned a mannequin wearing an azure dress this way and that before running her fingers down the fabric.
Silk and chiffon, with the bodice knit tight. Not very comfortable, Suki knew, so she dropped her hand, and wandered away from it. She wasn't really looking for anything more than a distraction, so she didn't really try looking.
When Suki got home from the fruitless trip to the mall, she turned her phone back on.
Lucinda had texted over one hundred times. No surprise. But the last text caught her attention.
Hunter made a psych profile on killer will send link when i have data
So Hunter had made a psychological profile on the killer, then? That could help the investigation's chances exponentially. Unfortunately, Lucinda hadn't sent the link to the profile yet.
This could take a while. But Suki was willing to wait. After all, she'd waited many years. She could wait a few hours.

For some reason, Darcy wasn't comfortable at Melody's that day. Selena and Kai had told her that a lot of new people had come in. Normally, Darcy would have been happy for the new customers, but she didn't like how they looked everywhere but the menu.
They also had cameras.
After Selena had to ask the ninth person that this was a privately owned diner, and they couldn't take photographs without the express permission of the owner, Darcy figured it out. The paparazzi.
She tapped her watch when Selena glanced at her, the signal for 'I'm taking five', and she slipped into her office.
Darcy had made it a point to go to the office as little as possible after the estrangement with Alexander, but she had to.
