"Wanna watch a movie?" Ares inquired, flipping through the channels on TV. Darcy looked at him.
"Really? A movie? This isn't date night, you know."
"Yeah, but Brayden's been spamming my phone for the past hour, so I need a distraction." The man grumbled.
"Mute his messages?" Darcy suggested.
"I feel bad though." Darcy rolled her eyes. "I didn't mean for him to ever find out that I faked my death when I was seventeen."
"Well, Tori was pissed, you couldn't really be surprised that she would do that. It's Tori."
"Yeah, but you all thought I was dead. You know why I had to do that."
"Actually, I really don't know. Enlighten me." Darcy said, facing the handsome man. "We agreed to not keep in contact, not to not fake deaths."
"My parents thought I was responsible for this girl from home's disappearance. They were really pissed, and they said that I had to pretend to die, or else they would convict me of murder." Ares rambled on.
"Nice parents you got there," Darcy said sarcastically. Ares nodded.
What little Darcy knew of Ares parent was limited to their heritage, an American father and a Native American mother. Ares's didn't talk about his father that much, so Darcy got the feeling that his relationship with his mother was much better.
"So, later that night, I went to a gym, where they did some blood packing." He continued on, gesturing with his hands as well.
"Blood what now?" Darcy interrupted.
"Blood packing. It's where you take a pint of blood out of the body and then before a fight, use an IV to improve your strength. Ask Kace about it." He explained.
"I don't understand half of what Kace says nowadays."
"Anyway, I grabbed the pint of my blood, filled a bathtub with water, dumped the blood in, fake blood on a razor and boom, I'm now dead."
"You went to great lengths to avoid saying goodbye."
"It never even went to the papers. My parents just said I died to the camp. I assume that's how you heard about it." Ares finished his voice monotone.
Darcy nodded silently. "You were lucky that Brayden didn't find out earlier."
"Brayden doesn't get out to see the family often," Ares commented drily. "Too busy doing whatever the hell he does."
"I'm really sorry about being mad at you," Darcy admitted. "I should've stopped Tori."
"It's fine. I was too concerned about everyone finding out that we'd know each other."
"Why?" Darcy laughed. Ares raised a perfectly arched eyebrow.
"You don't see it? Huh." He flipped past Real Moms of Hollywood.
"What? You scared of people finding out that you associate with commoners?"
"No, that Brayden would jump to the wrong conclusion. Like he always does."
"And why is that so vital?" Darcy teased. "Keeping the bloodlines pure, boys?"
Ares grinned devilishly. "No. I think my cousin has a tiny crush on you, Quinn."

They ended up watching three seasons of some kid show on Netflix.
