SILLY LOVE SONGS

Valentines Week was always a big deal at McKinley. With the whole school decked out in heart-shaped paraphernalia, and even Mr Schue setting a love song assignment in Glee Club, it was pretty much impossible to ignore. But with a pop quiz to study for, and also the harsh fact that she was painfully single, Alicia had resigned herself to spending time alone in the library. Well, that was until she was joined by a certain someone.

"I saw them. Finn and Quinn." Sam's voice spoke with a sense of urgency as he sat beside his best friend, causing her head to snap up from the algorithms on her page. "They were at his booth, kissing distance away."

"Isn't that kind of the point of a kissing booth?" Alicia asked with genuine confusion. Even though she thought Finn's kissing booth was just a ploy to boost his own ego, the proceeds were going to the Glee Club, which she couldn't really complain about. "I wouldn't worry about it, Sam. Quinn likes you a lot and if she kissed Finn, I'm sure it would just be to make a donation. It wouldn't mean anything."

"That's the thing, though! Ali, they didn't kiss!" He replied incredulously, a little too loud considering they were in a library.

"So, what's the issue if they didn't kiss?" Strangely enough, Sam's problem was jumbling with Alicia's head far more than any of the math problems she had to solve.

"Im just saying, it's odd. Something seems fishy!" He exclaimed again, this time earning him a stern glare from the librarian as she shushed him. Sam's face softened as he lowered his voice and leaned closer to Alicia. "Everyone thinks I'm dumb."

"Not...everyone." Alicia muttered, her breath hitching in her throat slightly.

"But I'm not. At least not about Quinn. She plays it cool, but she's ambitious. She likes being the queen bee, and she thinks being with star quarterback Finn is going to put her up there, whether she's wearing a Cheerios uniform or not. I'm pretty, but I ain't dumb."

Sam's words struck a chord with the girl. As Quinn's best friend, she knew how the girl tended to prioritize popularity over other things. Finn's new celebrity status at McKinley after the Championship game was exactly the sort of thing that she'd want a piece of. Alicia thought Quinn was happy with Sam, like really happy, and wouldn't put that in jeopardy just to be popular. But Sam was making a strong case, and Quinn had been acting kinda weird lately.

"I think you should talk to Quinn. That's the best way you can clear things up." She offered, giving the only piece of advice she could think of since she, too, was pretty perplexed by the whole thing. "And I know you're not dumb, Sam. You're a smart cookie."

"Thanks, Ali. I can always count on you." Sam chuckled at her words as a soft smile appeared on his face, reminding him just how lucky he was to have such a great friend. He turned on his chair, ready to go and leave Alicia to her algorithms, before he remembered he had one last question. "Wait, have you kissed Finn at his booth yet?"

"Yep, I did it earlier. It was okay, I guess." She replied, with a shrug before growing hesitant. "Why?"

"Oh, no reason." Sam bluffed, returning her shrug nonchalantly. Even though for some reason that he didn't even know, he felt his heart sink a little at the very thought of Alicia kissing Finn. She couldn't find out though, so he had a well thought out excuse. "I was just thinking about...you know...how much money he's gonna raise. And stuff. For the Glee Club, you know? Anyway, I've gotta go. Bye, Ali."

And with that, he was off. Safe to say, he left Alicia with a lot more to think about than when he'd first arrived.

Another day of Glee Club, another day of being surrounded by gross couples. Alicia really wouldn't have minded if they weren't so all over each other, but it really seemed like everyone was getting in the Valentines Day spirit. Her eyes were drawn to Sam and Quinn, who seemed incredibly intimate as he kissed and whispered in her ear as she smirked. Alicia's heart sank a little bit seeing them so close, but it was nothing that she wasn't used to.
