Fifteen – Houston
My birthday, the one day of the year my family would travel to where ever the hell I was on the planet just to have a nice dinner together. This year was no different, luckily though I was playing in Boston, we won. My brother Memphis and I were currently heading from the rink to the restaurant in the back of an Uber. We were laughing the whole way, so it went quick, not that it was far to begin with. Addison drove up, I still couldn't believe it. Took her about 5 hours and she was at the game with everyone else. I'm constantly in total awe of her.
We walked into the restaurant and the entire front was filled with everyone waiting on us. Well I guess on me, since you know, my birthday and all. Memphis went straight to the bar, quickly waving to say hi to everyone else, his girlfriend followed. I was looking everywhere for Addison but couldn't find her. My mom walked over to me and I absentmindedly gave her a hug.
"Hey my baby boy, happy birthday." She kissed my cheeks, but my eyes were still wondering for Addison.
"Hi Momma." She smiled and pulled my face forcing me to look at her. She laughed. "She's in the bathroom." I noticeably relaxed.
"She's definitely here, right?"
"Yes sweetie, you did see her up in the stands with us, didn't you?" She laughed again as I gave her a quick nod, then turned to say hi to my dad then to Addison's mom.
"Hey Momma Jones." She squeezed my cheek.
"Happy birthday handsome."
"Thank you, where are Braelynn and Brent?" I shook hands with Mr. Jones and said hi to everyone else giving hugs to them all.
"Brielle kept them over night. I'm heading back to get them after dinner, so you and Addison can enjoy one another for tonight." She pats me on the chest. "Be good to my baby."
"Always, and I definitely owe Brielle dinner." She laughed.
"She was glad to help." I laughed and started looking around again.
"You look like a lovesick fool."
"Thanks Logan, love you too."
"She's right, you're just like looking around for her, she went to piss man." Memphis my brother slapped me on the back, then I finally saw her. When she looked up her smile was so bright and beautiful. I stopped the mindless conversation I was having with Memphis and Logan and beelined right to her, lifting her up and into my arms. Damn it felt right when she was in my arms. I buried my face in her neck as she giggled.
"Alright you two. Let's go sit down." My dad put his arms around us both, and I quickly kissed her before letting him lead us back to sit down at a big table. Okay, a huge table, there were like 12 of us altogether.
"Okay, you two." My mom pointed at Memphis then myself, we both looked at the other and started laughing. "This is not funny, you two are going to hurt yourselves!" We kept laughing. We knew exactly what mom was worried about. At the game tonight we made sure to check one another as much as we possibly could, cracking up laughing every time. "Boys, I am serious, you've been doing this for years! Your bodies aren't going to handle it much longer."
"Momma D, you know it's all in good fun!" Colin laughed.
"Yea we aren't out for blood or anything." Memphis said taking a sip of his drink.
"Like you have room to talk!" Logan yelled pointing at Colin laughing. Colin shrugged.
"Oh, don't get me started on the two of you, my heart is out of my chest when you two play one another as well." We all just laughed.
