Twenty – Addison
This month so far has been amazing, and we are barely halfway through it. The boys won the freaking cup! How awesome is that! I mean I believe it obviously because they're damn good, but so unreal! They had a ton of press, interviews, and shoots and just all kinds of stuff they were doing, and I had taken off a little over a week to help my sister out with any final touches for the wedding this coming weekend. Houston wasn't going to be up here for a few days still, and as much as I missed him, I'm also glad I get this time with just my sister before her big day.
We're all in Toronto, my parents included, they're keeping the kids, over at Houston's cottage, as much as she can so Ava and I can get everything done, plus she is seriously the best Grandmother in the world. Houston's parents have taken them a few days I've been here as well and love them to pieces.
My sister is one to do everything herself, like the centerpieces, all the décor, set up, breakdown, just everything, she needs to touch it to make sure it is perfect. She wanted it to be completely personal, and I'll tell you what it really is going to be amazing. Standing in her house looking over all the plans and seeing the centerpieces and décor in person, just really shows how amazing she really is. This wedding is going to be gorgeous.
All the bridesmaids are wearing white, totally Boho I know and super abnormal, but Ava is a little hippie girl, and she wanted everyone to look beautiful not just her. Plus, these gorgeous dresses we can definitely wear more than once. She's always thinking about everyone else and its insane, I don't know how she does it half the time.
Her and Colin have been together for a few years now. It's weird how that works, we all went to school together. They didn't talk much in school, especially since he was Houston's best friend, and everything that went down between Houston and I she was just being my sister and keeping her distance as well.
Colin is in the NHL as well and plays down in Dallas. My sister is going to be moving there once they are married, she's super old school like that. They said they ran into one another while he was up here for his vacation over the summer. They both were heading out to the lake with friends, two separate groups. The one girl in her group recognized Colin and started freaking out. Ava went over to him to apologize once they calmed down the other girl, and apparently sparks just flew from there.
"Addison!"
"Colin!" I laughed answering him as he screamed coming through the front door of the house, I grew up in. My sister took it over after my parents moved down to be closer to me and the kids when I needed the help.
"When's our boy get in? He hasn't answered my texts." He faked a sad face.
"Oh honey, it's okay, your boyfriend will get back to you when he has a chance." Ava patted him on the back before giving him a kiss on the cheek. I just laughed and shook my head. The love these to shared was beautiful. I loved watching them together, they were hilarious, and the way Colin looked at Ava is what I've always wanted in a relationship. I definitely now have thanks to Houston.
"I think he said he'll be here Saturday morning, they have so many events, from you know winning the cup and all." He shook his head and pursed his lips.
"Don't rub it in." I laughed and looked back down at the seating chart.
"Ava, seriously how many people are coming to this thing?" I threw my head back and laughed as Colin looked over to see what I was looking at.
"Holy shit, like 1000 it looks like eh?" He set his water bottle down on the table in front of me. I looked up at him.
"How many of these guys are from your team?" He smiled and looked back down at the little tables.
"Oh, only like two tables."
"That's it just two tables of guys from Dallas that you play with?"
"Well a few are in the wedding party." I threw my head back. "And some from other teams I've played on." He shrugged his shoulders.
"Are we going to have a total Hockey brawl?"
"THERE BETTER NOT BE!" Ava yelled from the other room. Colin and I quietly laughed.
"No, just some Stars, Devils, a few Caps, all in the same room. All in good fun, and no Gavin." He shrugged his shoulders before heading into the kitchen.
"Thank god no Gavin." I rolled my eyes.
"Why are we talking about Gavin?" I looked up at Ava now in front of me.
"Nope, just saying how thankful we are that he wasn't invited."
"Hell, no he wouldn't be invited. Ew, gross." I stood up and closed the book. "When is that court date of yours anyway?"
"Next Tuesday."
"Is Houston going with you? Or would you like me to join, I'll throw down on a judge." I laughed at my twin, knowing she totally would throw down in a court room.
"Houston wants to be there but thank you for that wonderful offer. Plus, aren't you going to be on that crazy thing called your honeymoon?"
"Oh, yes I will be. Then we're going house hunting in Dallas!" She was very excited about this. Ava has wanted to move in with Colin for the past few years, but my mom always taught us not to live with a man unless you have his kids or are married. So, when Gavin and I moved in together after I found out I was pregnant she was super strict about it with my sister to wait until she was married. She also hated Gavin, they hated how he was with me more than him as a person. Although he as a person was shitty too. "You should just move to Dallas with us." She smiled.
"I'm not moving to Dallas Ava; my life is unfortunately in PA."
"That can change. What are you going to do if your man gets traded?" Ava put her hand on mine and Colin perked up and looked over.
"That's a damn good question, I mean you two have only been together like half a year or something. Would you follow him? That's a huge part of being serious with a Hockey player, hell any pro athlete." He shrugged taking another drink of his water bottle.
"To be honest probably, but that's really up to him not me isn't it? I mean are we really to that serious part of the relationship or are we still in our honeymoon stage?"
"Uh, you two just started sleeping together, he's your best friend, isn't he? Like you tell him everything before you tell me or Brielle, right? I don't like that, but I do tell Colin everything before I tell you."
"He is, and I do." I laughed. "He's the first one that I think about when I open my eyes in the morning and the last before I close them at night."
"Strong relationship eh?" Colin asked.
"The strongest I've ever had."
"I'd have to say that pretty much answers Colin's question as to whether or not you would follow that man if he got traded." Ava laughed.
"It's a lot so soon though."
"Addison, you have been in love with him since you were like 14, soon doesn't exist with the two of you!" She laughed
"He's been in love with you since he was 15, I remember the day he told me about you coming to his house when he was laid out. I also remember how legit heartbroken he was when he found out you were with Gavin. Seriously, I've never seen him so messed up. He didn't want to do shit except Hockey, so I guess we have you to thank for his career." He smiled.
"That's one way to look at it." I laughed with them.
"Seriously, I don't wish for him to get traded."
"I DO!" Colin yelled. We both laughed.
"I don't, but if he does, I hope it's closer to me." Ava smiled wide.
"With that, I'm going to bed." I laughed again.
"It's only 10 pm lame." Colin looked over at me.
"I'm sorry, have you been reading wedding lists and finalizing crap all day? No? okay then I'm going to bed." I stuck out my tongue before saying goodnight to them both and heading upstairs to shower.
