[CONTINUATION OF THE YAKUZA AU]
[MENTIONS OF PAST NON-CON]
This is genuinely just fluff??—————
"Kacchan's been really busy huh?"
Izuku hums, flicking the lighter. It sparks, before a small flame flickers to life, and he lights the tip of Katsuki's cigarette.
"I have been." Bakugou takes a drag, feeling his jittery nerves calm before he exhales and watches the smoke dance through the air. He fans it away from the kid- he doesn't want him to get sick. "You studyin' well?"
They make small talk as Katsuki flips through an innocent looking magazine- pink and plain, easy to hide among the shelves of books in Katsuki's library. It contained information about their district's police force. Katsuki wasn't worried since the only person he's concerned about is that one detective named Tsukauchi Naomasa. He'd made a name for himself as a 'lie detector', and from the looks of it, was a pretty damn good detective.
Although Naomasa was assigned two different cases on his file, the moment he comes around and sniffs anywhere near Bakugou's organization, he was to be taken out immediately. There was little possibility for him to catch onto Bakugou's trail, but he'd rather minimize the risk.
"I wanted to give you something, Kacchan."
That piques the older man's interest, perking up from the pages to see Izuku sifting around his little backpack that Katsuki gave him with a little grin on his face. "Burnett said you'd like it." Katsuki's face sours.
"You've been talking to him?"
"Mhm. He said it's more fun here than in America."
"Don't. That man's a little scoundrel," Katsuki says in english, trying to mock-imitate that man's accent. "A thief and a liar. Liars-"
"-deserve to die." Izuku finishes his thought, an amused lilt in his voice. "I know Kacchan. Oh- found it. Here!"
Something red comes sailing towards Katsuki, and he catches it on reflex, earning an amazed gasp from Izuku. He opens his palm to see a tiny, mini teddy bear the size of his hand with red fuzzy fur and angry eyebrows clumsily stitched onto it.
"Is this.."
"It's you!" Izuku laughs when Bakugou pouts, though, a pleasing, warm feeling spreads through the blond's chest at the gift.
"Thanks, sweetheart. I'll keep it here." Katsuki slips it in the pocket on his shirt, though, it barely fit, adding to the comical effect of half of it's body ready to burst out, looking extremely out of place on the stoic looking man.
Izuku positively beams at him, and he ruffles his hair.
"Wanna go eat out? I heard a new ramen stand opened yesterday."
"Yes please!"
————
"Good, huh?"
Izuku nods happily, adding more chili flakes and hot sauce which brings a proud smile to Katsuki's face. He's just like him.
"Plans for college?"
The boy blinks, surprised at the question and momentarily dumbfounded.
"I.. I wanted to stay by Kacchan's side.."
".. Kid." Katsuki sighs, patting his head with a small, tight smile. "You shouldn't have to rely on me 24/7. It's-"
"-dangerous, I know!" Izuku whines. "It's just.."
"We'll figure it out. Okay, Izuku? Promise me we will."
And Izuku frowns, but he complies with a small voice.
"Okay, Kacchan."
(Katsuki was a bad person, and it was only time that his good luck ran out.)
"Good."
—————
Izuku was smart.
Katsuki knows that, because despite his useless, clumsy, childish demeanor, he was knowledgeable. Perfect test scores ever since Katsuki forced him to go to high school, diligent note taking- the ditzy cloud in his eyes sometimes vanished when faced with trouble, just like last year's riot, right outside Katsuki's hideout.
He's the one responsible for saving Katsuki's men, back then, keeping a level head and ushering the men out the building first, 'special shipment' going second, wheeled out on a wheelbarrow and taken underground right in time before the cops swooped in.
Most of all, he's terrifyingly sharp.
Knew Katsuki's ticks and habits like the back of his hand, how everything worked the very first day the older man took him under his wing, quietly pin-pointing whenever one of Katsuki's 'business partners' were lying about something.
He was useful.
But he didn't belong in this kind of life.
Which is why Katsuki is making this crucial decision.
"You're going to college."
"What!?"
"You've been on a year break after your graduation to work for me. You're- what, nineteen now?"
Izuku huffs, clearly annoyed. "But I said-"
"Izuku, all I want for you is to have a good life. Do it for me. Please." Katsuki hands him the application, eyes hard, making the green-haired boy sulkily take the paper and pen. Well. He may be all pouty, but at least he still follows orders. "There. I want you to pick what you wanna be, okay, Izuku? Can you do that?"
A nod, and Katsuki sighs in relief. "Good, good. I'll be back in an hour, and I wanna know your decision by then. Aight?"
"... Fine."
"Izuku."
"Okay, okay! Geez."
——————
"A medic, huh?"
".. Yeah."
"It's gonna he hard, and there's gonna be a lot of sleepless nights, Izuku." Katsuki grins, though, ruffling his hair. "But I know you can take it."
Izuku was still silent, curled up in the bed, shoulders hunched. Still a little upset, but hey, he was talking.
"... You wanted to cuddle, right?"
The boy perks up at that, before nodding.
"Okay.. I'm still angry though."
"Whatever. Scoot over, babe."

A/N:
To address the age gap in here, I wanted a story of obvious power imbalance (older/younger). Since Izuku has obviously been through tough shit, I wanted to show how much he actually trusts Katsuki- their ages being years apart was a key detail of how easily Katsuki can overpower Izuku, but he doesn't because he's cash money like that. Oh, and this chapter is short because my brain is absolutely fried. Anyways, I literally love all of you and I would love to give you guys big hugs 🥰💛.
