Wyatt yawned as he made his way to class; he had barely slept. He spent all night watching every interview he could possibly find of Tyler, hoping to get on his good side and find some information that could help him advance in class.

He knew that Tyler was the sarcastic type, not one to take anything too serious. Wyatt also found out that his favorite movie was coincidentally Napoleon Dynamite, something he didn't at all plan. After spending all night on youtube and rummaging through film forum interviews, he still didn't know what to expect.

Wyatt looked down at his phone, he was five minutes too early. He bit his lip, pulling the door open to see if it would.

It didn't.

He sighed.

"You're early."

Wyatt turned around, Tyler smirking as he took out the key from his pocket.

"Sorry," Wyatt spoke under his breath, following behind as Tyler held the door open.

"Why you apologizing for?" Tyler placed his bag on the desk, unzipping it.

Wyatt made his way to his seat.

"Just a habit."

"You work at that coffee spot right?"

"Oh, yeah."

"What did I order?" Tyler glanced up at him, catching Wyatt by surprise.

"Uh, medium chai—no, latte. With two pumps of vanilla."

Tyler shook his head.

"Three."

Wyatt bit his lip.

"So you're not the listening type." T's voice was deep, making him seem more intimidating.

"I'm more of a visual learner."

"That makes two of us."

There was silence before the door opened and students began to pour in.

Wyatt sunk into his seat, realizing he had probably failed one of Tyler's tests. He hoped he left an impression, he was a little taken a back after the interaction.

Wyatt watched everyone walk in, some taking the time to make small talk with Tyler. A few minutes passed as the room filled up, Syd walking in late once again. She made her way over.

"Did I miss anything?"

"Class hasn't even started."

"Good," she adjusted herself in the seat.

Everyone quieted down as Tyler began to write on the board. Before he could finish, the door opened, a girl walked in unsure of where to go. She looked like a deer in headlights.

"She's cute." Syd whispered.

"Don't you have a girlfriend?" Wyatt replied, laughing.

"I just said she was cute," Syd laughed, putting her hands up in defense.

They turned their attention back to them.

The girl stared at Tyler, she looked just as surprised as everyone else on the first day.

"You lost?" Tyler chuckled. Everyone did too.

"Um, I was supposed to be here yesterday but I had an emergency. Here's a note from the counselor," she passed it over to Tyler.

He eyed it, everyone intently waiting to see what would happen.

"Hm. Alexa Demie?"

She nodded.

"Go take a seat."

Wyatt watched Tyler's eyes trail her body as she walked up the lecture stairs to the back row. Tyler quickly glanced away.

He cleared his throat.

He spent the lecture talking about lighting in film and how important it was.

"Think about it. You use light to invoke mood. Y'all seen The Shining. Notice how Kubrick uses darkness to instill fear. The lights flicker at the end..." he pressed play on the remote as the projector played the clip. He paused it.
"An amateur ass director would've probably been like, oh let's just dim the lights for this. But nah, Kubrick approached it different. He made sure to use darkness only when it was completely necessary—,"

"Is that why you use that technique in your film?"

Everyone turned at the voice that came from the back of the class.

"...in Wolf?" Alexa finished. Everyone turned to look back at Tyler.

"Uh, yeah. I took some inspiration from that," he seemed taken off guard.

"I noticed.." she smiled.

Tyler looked back up at her, grinning.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt, I'm just a huge fan of your work. I didn't know you'd be teaching this class until I walked in this morning."

Tyler nodded, chuckling to himself. He could tell she was getting flustered.

He continued on with the hour long lecture. Soon, it was over.

"Before y'all leave, it's a drama club that's going on everyday after this class. I'll be there, and it's extra credit if you guys show up. It'll give y'all experience on directing the theater students, plus there's stuff you can do behind the scenes, like working on the theater  lighting and props. Cool? Any questions?"

"How much extra credit we talking?" Syd asked, everyone letting out a laugh.

"Show up first and you'll find out."
