Wyatt secured his bike lock to the front of the store.
He began to take off his earphones, looking up and soon bumping into someone."Oh shit, I'm sorry,"
Their coffee spilled on the ground.
"Fuck," Tyler cursed.
"I'll make you another one. Fuck, I'm sorry."
"Nah it's cool, I—,"
"Please. It's on me." Wyatt gripped his arm.
He didn't realize the personal touch until Tyler looked down at the gesture momentarily.
Wyatt let go.
"It tastes better when you make it anyway."
Wyatt smiled a little, Tyler following him into the shop.
"You're not supposed to cover Janet until later." Martha noticed Wyatt come through the back end.
"I know," he ignored her remark, quickly starting on Tyler's cup.
Once it was finished, he made his way to where Tyler was sitting.
"Here. Sorry about that again."
"Wyatt, It's fine."
He took a sip.
"Why'd you cancel class today?"
"I had an unexpected meeting."
"Well don't you have somewhere to be right now?"
Tyler shook his head.
"Nah, I was about to have lunch with Imaan but our schedules got fucked up."
Wyatt pulled the chair in front T, sitting on it.
"Don't you got work?" Tyler looked back at the busy line that kept growing.
"I don't start yet."
Wyatt only wanted to talk—he didn't care about what, even if it meant just for a while.
"How'd you meet Imaan?"
Tyler smiled.
"Through mutual friends. I've always had a crush on her. I told her and we just hit it off."
Wyatt nodded, tracing circles on the table.
"You?"
"What?"
"You're not seeing anyone?"
"Not after everything that happened. I'm done with relationships for a while."
"You're young. You'll find someone."
Wyatt grinned, his eyes landing on Tyler's lips again. This time, Tyler noticed.
"Do I have something on me?" He moved his fingers across his lips.
"Oh, no–I just..." Wyatt became visibly
flustered."I know my lips cute nigga." Tyler chuckled, breaking the awkward tension. He was good at that. He was good with people; unlike Wyatt's socially awkward mannerisms.
"Wyatt? we could use you right about now," Martha, the manager, called from behind the register.
The line was getting out of hand.
Tyler got closer.
"Look, if you ever need anyone to talk to.." he took a napkin, writing his number on it.
"Just don't blow up my phone."He left.
