I woke up to the fresh smell of bacon and eggs. Throwing my legs over my the edge of my bed, I stood up and ran down stairs. "Good morning Elizabeth, are you hungry?" Dad asked. "Good morning and yes I am." I replied. Dad smiled and handed me a plate. "Mom would like help putting up some thanksgiving decorations. We might also go get a Christmas tree too." Dad informed me. "Ok." I said taking a bite of eggs.
After finishing breakfast I ran up stairs and got dressed and quickly brushed my hair and teeth and then putting a little makeup on. Nothing too fancy. I got back downstairs and mom had boxes and boxes of decorations. "Mom I didn't know you had this much stuff." I said surprised. "I'm really crazy about decorating the house for holidays honey." She smiled standing up. I smiled at mom as she told me what each box consisted of. "Wow that's a lot." I said.
There were boxes full wreaths and leaves to decorate the doors and the railings of the stairs, and boxes full of window clings, and many more boxes full of decorations. "Let's get started!" Mom said excitedly. I opened a box that was filled with decorative leaves and pumpkins. "Mom where do you want these?" I asked holding up the leaves. "You can wrap the leaves on the railings of the staircase." She instructed. "Ok." I said walking over to the stair case and started wrapping the leaves around the staircase and soon I was done. "Alright mom. I'm done." I informed her.
"Ok. Go put this wreath outside on the door." She said handing me the wreath and a hanger.
I went outside closing the door feeling the cold Idaho breeze on fill my shirt. I finally went inside, feeling warmer by the second. "Looks like we're done!" My smiled. "Nice job!" She added giving me a high five.
Soon dad came in with a huge Christmas tree that almost touched the top of our ceiling. "That's huge!" Gavin's said admiring the tallness of it. "I bet it's the biggest one in Idaho." dad said crossing his arms over his chest and taking a step back to look at it. "You've got a good eye honey." Mom smiled.
As soon as we all started decorating we finished in under an hour. The trees light shone in our dinning room area, showing off the colors of the floor and the walls. It was really pretty.
We finished off the night by having a yummy dinner and decorating thanksgiving turkey cookies, which were good too.
I couldn't wait to spend time with family and do all of the thanksgiving festivities because we all know this is my first time...with my family!
