(The video is the music you're playing in this scene, enjoy!)
You were playing the harp, this place was the one you committed to never return, but you were never good at keeping promises you made to yourself. 3 deca-phoebs, that's how long had been since he died. You still remember him, it was impossible to forget someone you loved so devotedly. And as if nature echoed your distress the rain started, the clouds were the only ones who could hear your pain, and they cried alongside you. Memories came back again, between your music and the salty taste of your tears you could remember those happy recollections, the ones that would never happen again.
________
Matt carried you through the woods, sweat ran down your forehead, you were too tired and hurt to run. There was a dilemma between the necessity of freedom and human needs. You endured for some time until you could no longer. There was a truth to face: the bruise in your leg was hurting like hell.
"Matt!" You called, but he didn't hear you, he was deaf with adrenaline "Matt!! It's hurting!" your voice became louder; he stopped suddenly aware of your hardship. The abrupt motion almost made you fall.
"I'm sorry, (y/n)" he pressed his lips in a thin line "I will carry you."
"No, you will not!" It sounded angrier than you intended "I'm no damsel in distress! You're just as, if not more, hurt" Your concern made you sound hostile, but you didn't mean that way. You stopped taking a deep breath "I just need five more doboshs...maybe an orange juice and my mum too" You gave a weak giggle at your joke attempt. Matt paused. "Oh, come on! It wasn't that ba---" a laugh interrupted you, he laughed like it was the funniest thing he had ever heard, you waited for him to stop. 5 ticks. Then 10. Then 25. At this point, he was on the floor, struggling to get air between the laughs. "Ok, Matt, it wasn't that funny either" You bent down to approach him.
"I'm So--" He was still struggling to stop laughing "I'm sorry, (y/n), it's just that..." he stopped laughing but a smile remained, and you could hear it in his voice. "I'm so happy to be here with you" he ran his hand over your jaw and that made you smile too.
"Me too, but...! Now we need to get those bruises fixed! I think we're far enough..." You inspected the wound on his arm, it was deep, that worried you. You were interrupted when he got up.
"I have a better idea" You raised your brow at him, but before you could resist you were already in his arms "Dance with me, (y/n)! We need to celebrate our freedom!" he started spinning through the woods with you in his arms. You could only think of his injuries.
"Matthew Holt! Put me down right now!" you scolded him "You're HURT!!" he spun with you in his arms for a little bit more, then put you on the floor.
"Party pooper" he teased, you took a stick from the ground, hitting him with it "Ouch!"
"Dork" you grinned.
"I am your dork" he approached pressing his lips to yours. His kiss was nothing at all like those perfect kisses they tell in tales, but the passion made it feel even better. It was a promise of a life you two would have together. When your lips parted the view was astonishing. A beautiful hill with flowers, in the center a lone tall and magnificent tree. You could tell this was not in the galra territory since there were no claim marks. It seemed almost like a dream. "Wow!" you sighed, "This is...beautiful!".
"I know," Matt said, but it wasn't the hills he was looking at.
"Maybe we could live here after we finish our business with the rebels. I can clearly imagine, a beautiful log house next to that tree and your workshop behind it." you sighed "Sounds perfect."
