A/N: I've been having some trouble with time to write the next chapter (part two of "Electric City"), so I decided to post a scene that never made into the final product.

Your eyes slowly opened, still sore by the light from the lamp next to your bed, you had to blink several times to get used to the brightness. You sat down, with the feeling of something wet running down your face, as your hand investigated the tact met with the tears, small remains of the unpleasant dream. You searched for Matt's reassurance, but the man wasn't there, just his cold, empty place in the bed.
"Matt?" you called, but all you had in response was the sound of metal being hammered. Sometimes you hated being engaged to an inventor.
You uncovered yourself, letting the icy winter wind touch your skin, a sigh later, your body was already out of bed, looking out the window to Matt's workshop, which was being blurred by the drizzle. Your first reaction was to leave the house and go to the place where your fiancé was, letting the dawn drizzle wet, but not soak, your body. You silently opened the door, so as not to wake Chestnut, who you were sure was sleeping at Matt's table.
"Hey," You said, in a weak sleepy voice.
"Ooh...ohooh...he...hey," the sound of your voice scared Matt, who almost knocked down a piece of hot metal, your fiancé was now struggling to keep his balance.
"Couldn't sleep?" You asked, getting closer to the fire to let it warm you up.
"No, my head was just...twitching with ideas, couldn't wait until tomorrow" He had a big smile on his face, as well as black circles. Your face warmed up, not due to the fire, but upon seeing how handsome your fiancé was, even sleep-deprived. You both faced one another for a few ticks, nearly causing you to forget about the nightmare.
"Can I help you?" You asked, realizing that you were staring long enough to be considered creepy.
"Would you?" He gave you a tiny smile, but it didn't take long for him to get his eyes wide open, aware of the time, "Wait, no! Don't you want to sleep?" Matt put his hand on your shoulder, you stopped holding yourself for a second to entwine your hand with his.
"Don't worry about it, even if I wanted to sleep I wouldn't be able to. I was dreaming about my brother." Matt's tender look became worried, he didn't need to put himself in your shoes to understand the matter, "It's been 8 deca-phoebs since I last saw him."
"You never talk about your brother," he said. And there was no escape, it was true. During Zarkon's empire you suffered many injustices and sorrow, but none greater than losing your brother, he was with you since your birth, and of course, there was twins' rivalry, but you loved him deeply.
"I know," you deflect your gaze, driving your hand away from Matt's to get a piece of fabric, "You remind me of him..." he frowned at you what made you blush, squeezing the fabric tightly, "N...Not in a weird way, you freak!", he giggled at your statement, and then picked up a screwdriver to carry on working, "I mean he was a jerk", you teased.
"Hey!" he smirked, now it was your turn to giggle. You took Matt's gizmo and started polishing it, carefully looking at your reflection, where your (e/c) eyes reminded of those of your brother.
"I nicknamed him 'dunce'," you said, "He used to call me mingy because I would always steal his deserts," you chuckled as reminiscences about your brother made your face brighten, "we always argued about everything, always trying to be the best...," still smiling your eyes flooded with tears, your voice joined in a shaky tone, "I...I miss him so much."
"Oh no," he dropped the screwdriver and hugged you in one motion, squeezing you against his chest, "It's okay, babe, don't cry."
You leaned your head against his chest, still smiling, even though your eyes revealed deep sadness, "He was the one I expected to take me to the altar when we get married," you gave a hollow laugh, "Since our parents are dead and all."
"We will find him, don't worry," he kissed the top of your head while caressing your hair. At this point, you weren't hugging back, even if his touch was comforting. You just weren't strong enough.
"I know, I know," you swept your face against his chest, letting the warmth calm you down slowly.
