So these are the maps that show where most of the tribes are (not all of them tho) and where our characters are.
The ice sea is a few miles of frozen ocean where polar bears live and between that and the northernmost coast of Alaska is the Alaskan laplands.
The laplanders now are almost extinct but a long time ago they used to live on the frozen sea and even cross the ice bridge over and over at will.
Nanuq is half Laplander and half Yup'ik Aleut, his father is half Yup'ik and half Aleut.
It was common for a lot of the different tribes to meet up and for people of different tribes to fall in love and have children but it was hard for them to figure out where to live.
Nanuq's mother lives with her people in the Laplands during the winter and comes to live with her husband and son in the summer and his father goes to see her during the spring for a while and Nanuq goes to her for a while in the fall but they are all apart during the winter months.
