"Why are you in chains?" Q asks with so much innocence, it's hard to imagine a child such as him being dangerous.
However, you knew better than to underestimate people. Currently, you didn't see any threat in just being honest with the kid though, so you did just that.
"I let them take me, but now that I've had my chance they will probably kill me for being a traitor...or..yeah...."
"Oh...if I let you go, will you play with me?"
You stare at Q, looking him over and really stalling on giving him a response. You weren't sure if he hadn't heard you call yourself a traitor or didn't actually care, and you had no idea what he meant by playing. For being a child, Q didn't look like the type of boy to see normal games any type of fun.
Is he my enemy?
"What are we going to play?"
"You look hurt. Maybe we could...take some revenge? Like messing around with people! It's always fun to see them helpless after making you feel like that too, don't you think?"
What was his ability?
You swallow back nervous laughter and instead give the boy a big smile.
"Of course! If you let me out, I'll have fun with you." You tell him, more concerned with being let out and escaping this cell than Q.
In no time, Q had helped you break out of your chains and the both of you snuck around until you made it to more familiar port mafia halls. Q kept insisting you run into some people, but truthfully you wanted to get as far away from the Port Mafia right now as possible. You tried promising him the both of you could play outside or something, but the small boy wouldn't have it. He kept repeating that he wanted revenge, that that was the most fun game he could play right now.
"You promised" he kept reminding you.
You bite your lip in frustration and walk behind Q now, wanting to slow down and lose him, but the boy kept looking over his shoulder with a creepy smile.
"Akutagawa hurt you right? And...you know Dazai too?"
"What? How did you..." you keep walking as you talk, only stopping when you thought you heard someone following.
"I heard your screams" Q giggles
The air around you both suddenly feels cold, and you feel your muscles begging you to bolt away from the odd boy in front of you.
You look behind you for a second, asking a question as you turn back around.
"Q...why did they lock you up again?"
Only silence responds your question, and you quickly realize Q was no longer in front of you. You stop in your tracks, a blossom of panic stirring in your chest.
What was his ability?
Turning to keep to the darker Port Mafia halls so you wouldn't be so visible to whoever you run into, you try to find the exit as you hoped you had left Q behind.
There's something wrong with that boy. I left everything behind in the basement cell too...damn it!
Resorting to a jog, the dark halls seem endless and much too quiet. Caught up in your curiosity, you don't notice the figure in front of you in the dark. You only feel the light tap of your body against theirs, barely brushing.
"You're kind of good at hide and seek, [l/n]! Like Dazai...except he always found me and hurt me. Don't worry though, I'll be ok..." the small voice pauses as they walk into the light let in by a small window, revealing Q's silhouette, one hand pulling at his sleeve and revealing the glint of metal dipped in blood against his skin.
Your eyes widen and you gasp reaching out to Q, but in a blink he's gone from in front of you.
The halls seem longer, darker than before, and suddenly you're running again...or maybe running from something.
You weren't sure. You could hear extra footsteps somewhere in the back of your head, and you couldn't tell if it was just your paranoia from trying to escape the mafia again, or there really was someone there.
If there was, the loud bang behind you removed them immediately.
You refused to turn your head to check as the familiar smell of blood seems to taint the air around you, a flash of the red liquid on the floor catching your eyes as you ran every now and then.
"You promised you'd play with me, [l/n]."
Q's giggles echo in your head, and a headache increases in pain the more you try to shake off the little boy's words.
His ability...
"What are you doing here?!"
As if born from darkness, Akutagawa pushes you as you run into him, his Rashomon activated, ready to attack. In a breath Rashomon is after you, and you jump back easily dodging it, as if it was an old habit.
Looking into the eye's of Akutagawa as you easily keep up with his Rashomon, you notice and odd red glint in them, and realize there's something off about them.
What...?
Everything after that is a blur.
Although you had to admit, ever since seeing Q everything hadn't felt right.
In the moment you hesitated to act, you feel Akutagawa choking you, but your vision distorts to different people, as if the on in front of you couldn't decide who's face to wear.
You fight for your life while forgetting why you are fighting.
Like everything in front of you is an illusion, the colours change as your mind wanders, and you hear the same gunshots from the night your parents were killed, your wrists heavy from the chains of that night.
You cry as your hands feel the cold metal of a gun, as you lift it up, and you shoot at the face that turned you into who you are.
The shooting doesn't stop there.
Then you stop crying, you stop thinking. The walls around you seem purple, or a dark colour resembling that of a purple so dark and hideous it makes your head spin.
Soon pain overcomes you, but you aren't sure if it's coming from somewhere on your body, or your heart.

You crouch down to meet the peculiar eyes of the young boy in front of you, your face cold and calculating.
"You have a strong power, Yumeno. That's why people fear you."
"I didn't ask for this."
The young boy's voice is soft, but there is resistance hidden in his tone.
"You need to learn how to use it. My ability distorts people's minds, confuses your truth with the real truth. It may not be easy to fight with it...but it's how you apply it that counts. It's like playing hide and seek with your opponent!" You try to give Yumeno a smile, but the boy doesn't return it.
"Dazai used to say things like that."
"I don't know Dazai right now, so we won't play the same games. I promise."
Yumeno looks at you quizzically, but there's a hunger for chaos in his young eyes
"No one calls me Yumeno. It's Q."
•••
"[f/n]...you've made a huge mess of things."
There's suddenly so much more light pouring into your sight, and you feel a weight come off you, replaced by the sensation of a sticky liquid all over you.
The face that meets you is Dazai's, his brown eyes glaring at you in frustration and concern. But the scene past him, is a horrifying sight. Even for an ex Port Mafia member.
