So you didn't look for me?
You know Ranpo has a level of deduction seldom matched by anyone else, and hearing that they thought you were dead hit you hard. You found it hard to believe that was the case.
Poe looks between you and Ranpo, trying to wrap his head around what was going on. Turning to Ranpo, he asks him a question in a low voice, and suddenly they're whispering between each other until Ranpo takes out a bag of chips and starts eating, watching you curiously as you do nothing but stand there staring, stultified by the reality of it all.
I started losing hope that I'd get out of my darkest prison, and here I am now so close to being free, so close to going to find Akutagawa again...
I can't stop now.
"Take me to the agency" you demand with as much strength as you can, stepping closer to Ranpo to keep his attention although both his and Poe's eyes were already glued on you quizzically.
Ranpo's face then suddenly changes, and he looks at you dead serious.
"You won't make it to the agency walking, and you won't be standing in a few minutes. You're starving, and you're tired. I got Poe to text Yosano a few minutes ago, so she should be here any minute now, hopefully before you've fainted." He says without any hesitation or doubt, and you're confused at how wrong he is.
"I don't feel anything you've described-"
"[f/n], you look terrible. Maybe you can't tell, but just standing here you look unstable. I can tell you're hungry and exhausted, but I have a feeling a mix of shock and adrenaline are keeping you going right now. It will all run out soon I promise."
Shaking, you hug yourself, a little wind picking up and bringing the salty smell of Ranpo's chips to your nose. Just like that, you feel a violent hunger in you that you had suppressed with all the commotion going on around you, with your emotions. You regret not taking Louisa's food, and you feel stupid for your state you felt completely your fault.
Your knees feel wobbly, your head starting to throb, and your vision, which was still having trouble with the light adjustments, was beginning to feel blurred. You hadn't noticed how truly exhausted you felt, and you suddenly feel nauseous.
"I'm fine" You murmur, reaching for your head as it only hurts more.
"Miss [f/n], try not to move so much, it will only get worse" Poe comments with a bit of worry, hands slightly out to catch you just in case, turning to Ranpo to ask him what they were supposed to do with you while they waited for Yosano, but panicking when he saw his friend already on his way to greet her.
Leaving Poe in charge of making sure you didn't hit the ground, Ranpo walks away as soon as he sees Yosano arriving, cheerfully explaining the situation but being met with an alarming look from the female doctor.
"Oh my god" Yosano mutters to herself as she walks towards you, putting a hand on your shoulder to steady you, wonder and concern written all over her face.
"We need to get some real food in you, and you have a lot of explaining to do. After that, I'd like to take some tests to see how you are." Yosano instructs, putting an arm around you and walking you to her car.
Although you let Yosano lead you away, you hardly react, mostly because you have a hard time processing that everything that was happening was still real, and your mind was going on overdrive. It had been months since you been in contact with so many people, and your anxiously-pumping heart wanted nothing more than for you to just slow down...but that wasn't happening any time soon.
In the car, Yosano drives and Ranpo sits shotgun, while you and Poe sit at the back. The raccoon, who you heard Poe call 'Karl' as Yosano insisted they all drive back with her, sat without shame in the centre seat. The whole car ride, no one asks you a single question, no one really talks much except for Ranpo and Yosano amongst themselves, but you were unable to hear what it was they were saying.
