Daryl didn't care for it, and he didn't mind it curtaining his eyes. It was just Carol that was the problem. She had the scissors and the so-called chair which was a log for him to get his hair cut on. But, Daryl being Daryl didn't want his hair cut, he said he was perfectly happy with the way it was. But, Carol debated back with, "What if a walker grabs it? It's longer than Carls!" or "What if it gets in your eyes and your trying to escape or fight a walker off?". She threw many at him, and good ones with reasons too. Eventually, Daryl gave out a big grunt and sat roughly down on the log, muttering under his breath about the stubborn woman. Carol bit her lip and jumped on the spot.
"A trim." He said in a low, obvious not happy about this, or wanting to do it tone.
"Don't worry, you grump. You'll be thanking me afterwards," She smiled and stood behind him, pulling his hair back and stroking it down her her slim fingers.
"Just cut the hair woman."
"Thought ya wanted a trim?" Carol leaned her head over his, giving him a cheeky smile. He rolled his eyes and looked away from hers. She chuckled and leaned back, lining his hair up and cutting the dead ends. Carol smiled, cutting away at the dead strands, while Daryl faces looked grumpy and glum, looking around only hearing the sounds of the scissors closing and opening against his hair.
Carol hummed a tune quietly to herself, unaware of Daryl listening. Her humming became slightly louder, making Daryl want to know what song she was humming. Catching her out of her dream land and his hair he asked her.
"What song are ya hummin'?" Carol stopped cutting for a second, then continued.
"Baby mine. It's a lullaby I used to sing to Sophia when she was a baby." Her smiled softly at the thought of her baby girl, so innocent, so pure and full of wonder. Daryl's hand turned into a fist then went lose, just the thought of her girl made him tense and feel guilt build inside him.
"'M sorry..." He looked down at the dirt. She stopped cutting and sighed.
"I know, I know. But don't be, you looked for my little girl, you tried to save her."
"But I didn't."
"You did." She snapped at him. He avoided her eyes, light tears forming in them. "I mean, she may not be here but, you tried, you looked for my little girl..." She sighed and blinked away her tears, cutting his hair again. "You're my hero, Daryl." Daryl smiled slightly, slightly. Just the corner of his mouth twitching up. "Now, back to hair." He nodded and sat up for her, only to shudder and break down under the feel of her smooth fingers running through his hair, massaging his scalp. His mouth gaped and he breathed out, eyes fluttering close under her magical touch, head falling back. Carol smirked. "You okay Daryl?"
His breathed slightly hitched and and his eyes snapped open, head up. "Y-Yeah 'm fine." He rubbed his neck, feeling the awkwardness circle around them. Carol on the other hand was quite enjoying Daryl's awkwardness and stuttering. She enjoyed his awkward/flirt moment when he ask if she wanted him to carry one of her water jugs, but instead dropping his in front of her and rubbing his face.
"Ya sure? Cheeks looks a bit red there..." She teased.
"Just cut the hair woman."
She bit her lip and gave him a 'Kay' and continued. Somewhere during the hair cut or 'trim', Daryl's eyes had fallen shut under Carols fingers, enjoying the gentle massage she was giving him. A low, sexy moan escaped his lips, making Carols cheeks burn up. Daryl's head leaned back, facing upwards to Carols face. She looked down at him and smiled slightly, unknowingly moving her head closer to his, brushing her lips against his. "My hero..." She said just above a whisper as their lips her about to touch.
"Daryl?" Carol and Daryl's heads snapped up and away from each other, looking and seeing Carl holding his hat in his hands staring at them. "My dad says I have to have my hair cut, but I'm questioning what kind of hair cut I'm getting now..." Daryl jumped out of his seat and Carol rubbed her neck.
"No, no Carl, it's fine. Just a normal hair cut."
"Oh, kay." He shrugged his shoulders and sat on the log, in front of Carol. Daryl coughed and walked passed Carol, whispering in her ear.
"This isn't over." She grinned.
"Oh, I know."
