"Did you want to come and help me get water so you could try and flirt and throw a water jug at me again?" Carol teased Daryl as they walked side by side down to the clear water river bank. Daryl looked away, hiding his blush.
"No, it's called company."
"It's called you wanting to share the same space," He snorted. "Plus a water jug."
"Are ya ever gonna let that go?" She shook her head and he sighed. "And I didn't mean to drop it, it's slipped."
"Butter fingers!" She teased again. He rolled his eyes and walked faster, just wanting to get to the river quickly now. They reached it and they crouched down, filling the jugs up.
"Besides, ya can't talk," Daryl started, smirking. "Mrs, 'I liked you first'." Carol gasped and frowned, then pushing him in the water, quickly standing so he wouldn't pull her in with him. "Ey!" he cried, making Carol laugh.
"I thought you needed a bath, to wash out that mouth of yours." She put her hands on her hips. Daryl moved his long hair from his eyes to see her, then sighing.
"Alrigh', fine. Sorry, now help me out. I think I'm stuck." He stuck a hand out for her to grab and help him. Carol chuckled a few more times before reaching out and grabbing his hand. She gave a few yanks for him to pull out more he didn't budge.
"Jesus, Daryl, you gotta at least help too. I'm not supermaaaaaaah!" Before Carol could yank her grip out of his, he pulled her in, wrapping his arms around her waist as he pulled her, soaking her and himself even more.
She squirmed and thrashed around, trying to break free. "Daryl! You dick!"
He laughed and loosened his grip a bit, giving her a chance. She thrashed around then elbowed him in the chest, making him let go and wheeze. She panted as she crawled to escape from the water, like a cat fleeing from being damp, then feeling Daryl wrap his large hand around her ankle and pull her back.
"I don't think so!" He laughed. Besides the slick and wet clothes and sandy hair, Carol was actually feeling happy for the first time in forever, seeing Daryl smile and play around like this. It was a very pleasant and pleasing sight. He pulled her back and then splashed her, getting her to splash back. They had splash war until they grew tired, panting and smiling like fools, side by side in the water. "You know, that thing about you liking me first?"
Carol smiled and rolled her eyes. "Yeah,"
"Well, ya were wrong, 'cause it was me that liked ya first." Before Carol had time to make a snarky comment or tease, Daryl ducked his head under and kissed her lips, tilting her head up to meet his. The kiss didn't last long, but it was defiantly rememberable.
Carol fluttered her eyes open and let out a slight 'oh'. He smiled and scooped her up in his arms, carrying her out of the water. "That was much better than you throwing a water jug at me." she pecked him on the cheek. He blushed and shook his head.
"Stop."
