Carol jogged over to Rick and the others, coming back from their supply run. Carol smiled at them, getting none in return. Her smile soon faded and she looked behind Rick, searching for one man in particular. Her eyebrows furrowed in concern and she looked at Rick. "W... Where's Daryl?" She said just above a whisper, heart thumping in her chest. Rick looked down, putting down his weapons.
"He..."
"He left?" She whispered to him, hoping that he left and not left behind or worse. Rick looked up at her teary eyes and shook his head. Carol's mouth opened, a chocked out cry, it escaping her throat. Rick shut his eyes, on the edge of tears himself and pulled her in a tight hug. Carol cried into Ricks shoulder, seeing Glenn tell Maggie and the others, them gasping and start to sob. Carol held Rick tighter, now crying uncontrollably. She couldn't help it, and she sure has hell didn't care what she looked like right now. The man she loved was gone. Vanished. Gone from this nightmare world. She couldn't believe it, having trouble taking it all in.
They went on a supply run for Christ sake! She couldn't believe it, she couldn't live without Daryl, he was her everything. She hadn't even told him she loved him, now wishing all those times she was going to but didn't, did. She let go of Rick and covered her mouth.
"Carol..."
"I-I need to be alone for..." She was going to say a minute, but she didn't know how much she needed, forever maybe? God, he was gone, and she wanted to be as well, if that meant to would be with him. Without finishing her sentence she turned her heal and walked away, ignoring Rick. She walked fast, out of their little camp and away, covering her mouth. Her walked turned into a fast walk, then a jog, then a full on sprint to god knows where. She cried loudly, luckily no walkers around to hear her. She sprinted to a abandoned lake, collapsing onto the ground, into the water.
She sat up and covered her face. Was he really gone? She couldn't believe it, hoping it was just a horrible dream. She roughly ran her hands through her hair, squeezing her eyes shut. She looked around her self, breathing heavily, suddenly seeing a Cherokee rose, blooming from the bush, only a few meters away from her. She wiped her nose and crawled over to the white rose, gently plucking it from its stem and holding it in her shaking hands. She smiled, wet tears dropping onto the white, smooth petals. She breathed a shaky sigh and pulled it to her chest, closing her eyes.
"Bloomed for you Daryl..." More tears escaped her eyes as she opened them again. She couldn't believe it, she had lost everything now. Sophia, the girls and now Daryl, slowly herself.
She didn't know how long she sat there for, and to be honest, she did not care. She honestly wouldn't give two shits if a walker came out and took a big chunk out of her neck. She wouldn't care if someone magically appeared and took a bullet and shot it through her skull. She wouldn't care, because Daryl was gone. Daryl Dixon was gone. After all the time she had been sitting there, she shifted her eyes onto the lake water, seeing it move as the breeze picked up and settled again.
She heard a twig snap behind her, but she didn't care. Assuming it was Rick, she spoke emotionless. "I'm fine Rick. I just want to be alone..."
"Ya've never called me that before." In a split second she recognised that voice. Her chin now trembling, thinking its just her mind playing games with her, she slowly turned around, seeing him. Him. Her mouth gaped and more tears started to flow down her cheeks, only these ones full of happiness and relief. He didn't have his crossbow on him, but he looked like hell. Carol quickly scrabbled to her feet and sprinted towards him, him capturing her in his arms. She breathed heavily into the crook of his next, holding him a tight as possible. "Nice to--"
She cut him off by smashing her lips to his. She didn't care, but she had to, and it felt right. He didn't have time to kiss back, she broke away and hugged him tighter before he could.
"You're alive! You're alive! Hah, you're alive!" She pressed her lips to his again, breaking away to soon for him. "Oh god, I thought you were dead!" She kissed his cheek. "Thought you were gone!" she kissed his other cheek the pulled him in for another hug. He hugged her back, smelling her scent and lifted her off the ground making her laugh. "What happened? They came back and you weren't there."
He chuckled to himself thinking over how he managed to give Carol more than a heart attack and almost get himself killed. "I wasn't with 'em because I was gettin' you something," She furrowed her eyebrows together as he reached inside his pocket. He pulled out a little pouch, pulling the ropes and making it lose, pouring it in his palm, reviling a pair of beautiful, diamond stud earrings. Her eyes widened and she gasped. He smiled and waited for her reaction. She closed her mouth and frowned, looking back up at him and slapping him across the face.
"Fuck! Ow, Carol wha--"
"That's for risking your life to get me these you moron," He rolled his eyes, until she latched onto him a kissed him hard, long enough for him to kiss back. He looped his arms around her small waist, leaning further in. She broke away and smiled at him. "And that's for the earrings and that I'm so glad your alive, and I love you..." The last part seemed to roll off her tongue. He smiled, actually smiled.
"I love you too, woman." He kissed her again.
"But seriously you're a moron."
"Your moron."
