Theo was on top of me, covered in sweat and panting. We were in my bedroom. It was early morning. My room bathed in light blue. It was our six months anniversary and if I counted it right, we just finished round four that morning.

Theo woke up a horny teenager in me. He leaned in and kissed me, not bothering to move so I can get out of him. Not that I wanted to, anyway. He gently smiled and kissed my temple. I just laid there unable to move. I wasn't tired. Actually, I had strength for another round already.

The thing is, it struck me at that moment. Everything I was, I am and I'll ever be, now belongs to this guy.

I like the way jazz music woke me up every morning. I like our late-night medical TV shows. I like the smell of his shampoo mixing with the smell of my bedsheets. I liked his habit of watching a stand-up comedy after work. Everything about him felt like happiness. Moreover, I was happy. After a long, long time.

We got up earlier that morning and enjoyed breakfast together. It was nice to date someone who was interested in the same things professionally. We spent a lot of time talking about medicine. Theo was smart and I enjoyed listening to what he had to say.

Soon, it was time to head to work. We were almost ready, but we couldn't find my blue tie.

My phone rang. I glanced at it. It was an unknown number. I decided to take it.

-Yes.- I answered.

-Harry?- a female voice said.

It was my crazy ex-wife. Of all days in a year...

-What is it, Jenny?- I asked, already annoyed.

Theo found my tie. I smiled at him. He walked to me and started tying it around my neck.

-You don't have to be rude Harry. I'm just calling to see how you are doing.- she said.

-Do you need something?-

-No, I just thought we should go grab a coffee sometimes.-

Theo heard that. I saw his eyebrow twitch.

-He left you didn't he?- I laughed.

-Yeah, okay, you were right!- she yelled.- I ruined our marriage because of some idiot. Is it so bad that I understand it was a mistake?-

-No, it's not.- I replied.

Theo knew about Jennie. We were married for 15 years. One day she told me she had someone else for years, packed her things and left. I loved her. And it broke my heart. Therefore, I dived deep into my work. Eventually, I got over it. But Theo knew how painful it was.

I saw fear in his eyes and I could guess what he was thinking.

-But it's too late, Jennie.- I said.

-What?-

-We had what we had. It was nice but I moved on. So no, we can't grab that coffee.-

I ended the call.

-I don' think my boyfriend would like me seeing my ex-wife.- I said looking at Theo.

He smiled, obviously relieved. I put away the phone and placed my hands on his cheeks. We kissed slowly. There was no way someone could ever replace him. I loved Jennie back then but not like this.

We had dinner that night in a small restaurant where we went often. Owner, Silvia, knew both of us. We had our private section where other guests couldn't see us. Food was great, Hotel California played in the background and we held our hands while talking about the world.
