"Hey Dad." I smiled sitting on the floor in front of the Iris Message. "How's it going?"
"Same as always. How are you?" He sat on his throne.
"Good."
We sat in an awkward silence. I rubbed the back of my head. "So...uh, what do you want to talk about?"
He tapped his fingers. "Well, how about the fact I now have a random ship?"
"I'm counting that as your Father's Day present by the way." I said.
"What? No cheeseburger this year?"
"Well, Mom said I'd have to buy them myself and that I could give you cookies instead. But if I'm being honest Dad, I don't know if you deserve her cookies."
He laughed. "You're probably right. You could always make me some."
"Maybe." I smiled.
After that we managed to have a decent conversation, one that ended when Dad had to go do god stuff, like create hurricanes and earthquakes and things like that.
I stared at the waterfall before sighing. I ran a hand through my hair before getting up and walking to the living room.
Nobody was in there. I wandered through the Cave and stumbled upon them in the exercise room.
"Look who finally makes an appearance." Artemis said, dropping from the pullup bar.
"Thanks for making breakfast." Megan forced out, her body shaking as she planked.
"It's no big deal. You have a climbing wall?"
"Yes, do you want a harness?" Kaldur asked.
"I'll be good." I cracked my knuckles and grabbed the wall. I climbed up it and sat on the flat top of the wall.
"How are you going to get down?" Robin asked.
"Well, let's see...Megan could always bring me down or catch me if I jump or I could just jump, I'd probably be fine."
I've jumped off Blackjack from higher.
"You might not have us to help you if you come with us." Wally said.
I rolled my eyes. "Wow. I guess that means you wouldn't have a harness to offer me either. But you'll find-" I scaled down the wall. "I'm very much capable of taking care of myself."
I was about to start working out with them, but the door opened and Black Canary walked in.
"Have any of you- Oh, good. Percy, can I talk to you?" Black Canary looked at me. Despite her wording, I didn't have a choice. I nodded and followed her out into the hallway.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"Why wouldn't I be?"
She raised an eyebrow. "You ran away crying when you got a bloody nose."
"Okay for one, you should know that your eyes water when you get punched in the nose. Two, it wasn't because I got a bloody nose. It's because of what happened the last time I got a bloody nose and that's none of your business. If you excuse me, I'm going to get started on lunch. I hope everybody like chicken nuggets."
I walked away from her. Once in the kitchen I dug through the freezer and thankfully found a bag of nuggets. I was worried I'd have to go to McDonald's and then Nico would be mad that I didn't invite him.
I turned on the oven and put the frozen food on a tray. I put it in and set the timer. I sat and hummed softly as I waited for the buzzer to go off. The moment it did so, Wally was standing at the ready with a plate.
"I thought Connor was the one with the super hearing?" I commented as I pulled the tray out and sat it on a cooling rack.
"He has a sixth sense when it comes to food." Megan said, flying over.
I tossed a fry into my mouth and watched as they dug in.
"Aren't you hungry?" Robin asked as he grabbed food.
"I'll be fine, I'm used to not eating a lot. Plus I can always make more."
Kaldur pushed me his plate. "You should eat."
"And so should you. You guys are the ones who run around saving people."
"Actually, we were going to ask the League if you could start coming with us on missions. Though I know Batman will want the entire League to-"
My eyes widened and I shook my head. "I need to do what I was told to."
If I'm brought up to the League...Orin will tell them who I am. Not through any fault of his own, but the fact that I'm here with Kaldur will make him freak out and ask if Kaldur has been acting properly towards and around me.
That wouldn't help me keep my dad's identity a secret and then it would make me have to deal with Kaldur treating me like a princess. I could say goodbye to ever going on missions with them.
Robin frowned but didn't say anything. "Well, we better get going. Batman asked us to patrol Gotham today."
"Do you want to come with us, babe?" Wally asked.
I glared at him. "No, just because you flirted with me. Also, there's a movie marathon on and I really feel like watching it. Have fun and please don't end up like you did last time because I'm not going to magically appear every time you need help."
"How did you find us anyway?"
"I have my ways. Now go have fun and don't destroy anything."
Somehow, that seemed like an appropriate thing to tell them.
Okay so this is crap but...
