"Can we join?" Loyalty asked looking at me. My eyes scanned over her and the other four. Batman wants to keep an eye on her, especially with this...split.
"Sure," I said. Five identical smiles shot at me, while the Team shot confused looks. I stretched. "Kaldur, you're with me. Everyone else, find a Percy."
Training was interesting to say the least. I took Kaldur out quickly. He's getting better at predicting my movements, but he's still slower than Orin. A gentle stream to a- This is no time to make flowery comparisons. I looked at the Percys and how well they were doing.
Loyalty faced off against Artemis. She hadn't struck back, dodging each of Artemis's attacks with fluid grace. When Artemis brought her leg up for a kick, Loyalty dropped. She swept Artemis's leg out from under her faster than I could see. The moment Artemis hit the ground, Loyalty pinned her. Once the hologram projected their total points, Loyalty moved and helped Artemis up.
Anxiety paired up with Wally. Honestly, I thought that wouldn't turn out well, but apparently Anxiety was a better fighter than she gave herself credit for. Even with Wally's superspeed allowing him to move close to the speed of sound, Anxiety seemed to know exactly where he'd be coming from. Which made it pretty easy for her to stick a foot out and trip him.
Sadness fought against Connor, another matchup that I didn't think would end up well. My eyes widened when Sadness simply caught one of Connor's punches.
"My little brother punches harder than this," she said. It wasn't a taunt, simply a quietly stated fact, but Connor being Connir took it as one. A rare smile appeared on Sadness's face as she dodged anger fueled attacks. A sloppy attack on Connor's part let her wrap her foot behind his leg and pull.
Anger launched towards Megan, never giving her a chance to pause. It was smart, smarter than I'd think someone created of rage would come up with. As long as Megan was focusing on not getting hit, it would be harder for her to fight back. Anger kept moving out of Megan's sight, keeping her from getting caught by telekinesis.
Megan grew extra limbs, trying to block Anger's strikes, but somehow Megan ended up sprawled on the ground.
Deception was...an interesting person to watch fight. She paired up with Robin. Like Loyalty, she dodged attacks, but Deception had some look in her eyes. It sent a shiver down my spine. Why did it bother me that much?
Her white eyes seemed to glow and she lunged forward. Her hand wrapped around Robin's wrist, and she used one of his own moves against him. He hit the ground hard, his head knocking against the stone floor.
"What the Hades, Deception?!" Loyalty glared, eyes flaring up and hair moving as if there were a slight breeze. "You can't do that on stone!"
"Oh, please. Annabeth judo-flipped us on a road. We were fine. Jason wasn't, but you know. Bricks." Deception shrugged. The look in her eyes came to the forefront: burning intelligence, confidence, and just a tiny bit unhinged.
It's the same look I see in villians' eyes.
"And you say I'm the one that gets us death threats." Loyalty rubbed her temples.
"Well, if you want me to act my name. I put the same amount of force in that I typically do when we fight. Jason wasn't overrated at all. Luke was a villian. We love blue food. Silena wasn't a hero. Dad loves us. It wasn't our fault for what happened in Greece. Gabe was an awesome step father. We're fine. We're not autistic. Nico is as straight as a ruler. Will is as straight as a tangle. We have a boy's name. Nothing happened in the Pit." Deception looked at her nails. "Tell me which one were lies and which ones were the truth. Oh that's right, you can't. Well, they can't, anyway. You guys have the same memories as me.
