The guardian of the forest

Chapter 1: Gravity Falls

3rd POV: (Bus to Gravity Falls, afternoon )

The mystery twin were 17 years old and on their way to Gravity Falls for the 4th time. Over the years Dipper had switched out his shorts and vests for jeans and hoodies. Mable on the other hand still wore her homemade sweaters but she switched out the skirts for shorts. She had also cut her hair to around shoulder length. (Pictures from last chapter)

As always Dipper and Mable were the only two on the bus for most of the long trip besides the driver. Mable had fallen asleep for most of it. She laid down in the back take up most of the back row using Dipper's lap as a pillow.

Dipper was reviewing the things he had written in his journal to pass the time. This journal was one he made himself and kept secret from everyone but Mable after some bullies burned his last one.

The cover of Dipper's journal is dark blue with a silver pine tree on it and golden markings in the shape of different constellations surrounding the pine tree.

Inside was information on the the many different kinds of creatures (including drawing to go with the creatures) in Gravity Falls along with different types of spells.

Most of the spells in Dipper's journal were unknown to Ford. Most of the spells were shown to him by different creatures in the forest. Dipper had become quite skilled in magic at least that's what the forest creatures said.

There were things in Dipper's journal that his Grunkle Ford didn't know about and corrections on the information Ford already had. Dipper had realized a couple years ago that the information that Ford had was pretty outdated. Especially when he started to talk to his friends from the forest about making his own journal.

Dipper quickly noticed how differently they treat him compared to Ford. When Dipper asked some of the creatures why they were so kind to him. Most of the supernatural creatures replied with roughly the same answer. "You, Star child actually listen to us and try to learn from us. You don't just study us from afar to learn our secrets and weakness. You also treat us with kindness and try to help us with our problems." After hearing the same kind of answer from multiple supernatural creatures. Dipper took a moment to wonder how Ford treated the creatures when he was doing his research.

By time Dipper was finish going through his journal and making sure everything was right. The bus had just past the sign welcoming the bus to Gravity Falls. So the twins only had about ten minutes left on the bus.

Dipper decided that it was time to wake Mable up. "Mable, get up we're almost there. You need to fix your hair before we get there it's a mess." Dipper says while shaking his twin.

"What! My hair!?" Mable jumps up in surprise patting the top of her head, causing Dipper to laugh quietly.

"Here you go." Dipper hands Mabel a brush with thank you and a smile.

While brushing her hair Mable's eyes light when a thought crosses her mind. "Hey bro-bro guess what."

"You and Pacifica finally got together?" Dipper asks with a teasing tone not looking at Mable, as he put their things away so they can get off the bus quicker.

"N-no!" Mable's turned bright red. "Paz said she ran into Gideon right after we left last year. She said he looks different like big time like she barely recognized him. She said he acts like a decent person now too."

"Really? I'll believe when I see it. I have a feeling something is going to happen this summer." Dipper says as he hands Mable her bags.

"You and me both bro-bro." The two stand up as the bus pulls up to the bus stop. The two get off thanking the driver as they get off.

The young Pine twins were surprised were they saw nobody was waiting for them. "Hey Dip-Dop where is everyone? We told them we were coming today right?" Mable asked looking around trying to find their friends.

Dipper just shrugs, "No clue, maybe they're throwing a surprise welcoming party since you like parties so much." Dipper throws out the idea with a small smile.

"Really!! Then lets go!" Mable yells in pure excitement and joy. And quickly grabs her stuff and starts walking in the direction of the Mystery Shack. Laughing at his sister's hyperness Dipper grabs his things and quickly follows after her.

Dipper freezes when he feels a presence watching him and Mable from within the trees that line the road. He looks around trying to find to person or creature watching them. 'Most creatures don't go this close to the weirdness barrier, and I don't see anyone either. I know It's not my imagination, but I just can't find whatever this presence is. I'll have to remember to ask my friends if anything odd has been happening in the forest.'

"Dipper! Come on hurry up!" Mable's yelling makes whatever was watching them leave. "Something the matter Dip-Dop?" She asks after seeing the look on her brother's face.

"Something was watching us Mable. I don't know what it was, none of the creatures usually come this close to the barrier. Whatever it was it gave me a weird feeling. We should hurry to the others." Mable gave a quick nod understanding Dipper's uneasiness towards the presence of a possibly unknown creature.

The duo quickly made their way down the path to the Mystery Shack.

Location change: Mystery Shack

When the twins finally reached the shack they were surprised to see how quiet it was. "Dip, where is everyone? You don't think something happened do you?"

Dipper rolled his eyes at his sister. "I'm sure they're fine Mable you know how safe the Mystery Shack is. I bet they just got the date wrong and don't know we're here yet."

After looking through the shack the pair finally finds everyone (Stan, Ford, Soos, Pacifica, and Wendy)
in the back. It looked like they were setting up for a party.

Soos, Pacifica, and Wendy were the first ones to notice the young twins. Before the trio could say anything the young Pines motioned for them to stay quiet. They were confused until the saw the pair sneak up behind the older twins to surprise them.

"Nice party setup. Who's it for?" The twin ask at the same time. The older twins jumping in surprise at the new voices.

"Kids!/you're here early!" The Stans yell at the same time.

"Nope, we told you guys we'd be coming today." Dipper says with a small chuckle. And walks off to talk to the others.

"Dip-Dop's right now lets finish setting up this party so we can have some fun!" Mable pretty much yells with her endless energy.

Ford shakes his head. "No guys go unpack while we finish this is your party after all. Oh and Mable your new room is downstairs dipper yours is the same room as always." The twins left with a quick okay wanting to see the changes done to their rooms.

Dipper's room was the room they shared all those years ago. It hadn't changed much. One of the beds were gone, replaced by a desk and a bookcase. The triangle shaped window always made Dipper think of Bill. Dipper quickly unpacked everything. He grab his journal and backpack and told Mable he was going out to the forest. "Mable I'll be back late I'm going into the forest."

"Don't forget about the party later bro-bro. I'll drag you back if I need to. You need to make some human friends."

"Okay, okay I get it I won't forget about the party." Dipper says rolling his eyes holding up his hands in surrender.

With that Dipper walked out into the forest to see the supernatural creatures he calls friends.
