NARRATOR'S POV
The cold stone floor proved to be the only place the three would stay for hours. Draco fell asleep in Hermione's arm as Narcissa seeped over the death of her once loving husband. "I," she started. "He wasn't always evil. There was a time when it was just us three. Music and laughter filled these halls as well as love. Before he was a death eater, he was someone who loved Draco and I, and we loved him too. I thought that if I stuck with him, he would be good again. I-" she stopped and wiped away tears. "I let my love turn into a weakness, something he could control me with. And now he's gone." She held his ring to her heart. Hermione gently moved closer to Narcissa, Draco still on her lap, and hugged her.
"I'm sorry," Hermione said. "I don't know what happened, but it just did. I'm so sorry."
She brushed Hermione's hair softly, showing the affection a mother would her daughter. "Magic is a funny thing. When good and evil fight, sometimes it likes to interfere. It's not your fault."

Draco's POV
I opened my eyes. Hermione was no longer holding me, but was replaced with soft pillows. Jolting up, I scanned the room and realized I was in my room. There was no sign of Hermione anywhere.
I ran the down the stairs, to the living room, dining room, kitchen but I couldn't find her anywhere. Where would Hermione go? I thought good and hard, then it finally hit me. I ran down through the remote halls until I met the white door at the end of the hall. I reached for the door knob and open the door. Hermione, surrounded by many books, was fast asleep, sprawled across the couch. The sun shined through the windows and lightened the air and atmosphere around her within the dark room. I walked up to her and grabbed the book in her hand. Her Handsome Hero. The first thing I felt was a wave of insecurities. Did she think of Ron while reading this? He's played the role of hero many more times than I have. Does she regret being with me? I've caused her the most pain within the last couple of months. I placed the book on the coffee table next to her and knelt down on my knees. I held her hands in mine, being sure not to wake her up. Why don't you hate me? You should hate me, or at least know when to leave me. All I'll ever bring is pain. I kissed her hands. The next thing I knew, I was drifting away into a dark sleep full of unclear dreams. But even asleep I knew Hermione was walking with me holding my hands in my dreams.

Hermione and I returned to school within the next week, making sure to be fully rested before returning. Harry and Ginny approached us before we could even put our luggage away in our rooms. Both bombarded Hermione and I with questions, some which weren't relevant at all. "Go to hell, Lucius," Ginny yelled out the windows. "No offense, Draco."
"None taken," I assured.
"Mione, Let's talk," Harry said and pulled Hermione out of the room.
Funny and I sat in silence. "Wave listen to what they're talking about?" Ginny asked. She pulled out a pair of ginormous ears. "They enhances our ears. Just skip them on there." She handed me over and I put them on, fully aware that I was betraying Hermione's trust and wishes by eavesdropping on their conversation.
"Let's not," I said.
Ginny shushed me. "Listen!"
Before I took it off, I heard the mention of my name. "Are you sure staying with Draco is the best thing for you? He's put you in so much danger, I'm afraid one of these days, wet may not get you back at all. Lucius could've killed you!"
Hermione cut him off angrily. "But he didn't! You have to know that Draco is doing his best and that I am the happiest I've ever been. I love him!"
"But he is constantly putting you in danger! I admit he is a different Draco, but I don't know if I can trust this Draco."
"Well I do! You have to understand that being with Draco has been and always will be the greatest decision I've ever made. If you can't understand that, well then, you should just go." Angry footsteps got louder and louder and Ginny and I scurried to guide them before we got caught. "Harry was just leaving." Ginny got up and hugged him while Hermione sat and cuddled with me on the couch.
"I'll see you tomorrow morning," Ginny whispered and retreated back to the main room. Unable to think straight after the conversation I listened to, i got up. "I should get leaving too," I said lamely. "I've still got some packing to do." Hermione walked me to the door and gave me a hug. I left.
Still processing the conversation, Harry came up to me and demanded a talk. Out side by the lake, hey and I strolled. "You have to understand she's my best friend, Draco," he said," and I don't want her to be hurt." I only nodded, knowing where this conversation was leading. "You have gotten her hurt multiple of times, and yet she is still by your side. I have no choice but to have trust in her decision." I looked up from the ground and stared at him in awe. "I trust you, Draco. I trust her trust in you." I smiled and finally turned to stare at him in the eyes.
"Thank you," I muttered. He extended out an arm in true faith. I shook it.

Hermione's POV
I wine up to the faint tapping of a beak on the window. I opened the window and retrieved the letter. Meet me on the quidditch field it read. I dressed comfortably, jeans, T-shirt, Draco's sweater, and marched outside. In the very center of the field stood a very tall and gallantly happy Draco, a Draco I had never seen before. "Morning," He said. Huh e wrapped me and pulled me in.
I smiled and snuggled into his chest. "What are we doing here?"
He smiled. "We are standing in the place of my most comfortable spot ever. On this field, I never had to worry about messing up, because players messed up all the time. I didn't have to worry about the cold shoulder of my father, or the yells from disapproving teachers, I was just me letting it ask my anger in a game." He then stared deeply into my eyes. "But I've recently realized all of that's changed. Because of you, I don't care about messing up anymore. I don't have a comfortable place anymore. I have you. When I'm with you, I don't have to worry about messing up, because I know that you will never judge me. Yo are my comfort place. Wherever you are, I want to be there with you. You are the only person who I can be my true self."
I couldn't help but be overwhelmed with happiness. "Draco, always been scared to show people joe nerdy I actually am." Draco chuckled. "Even with Ron, I couldn't be myself because I knew he wouldn't understand. But now, standing with you, I know that I don't have to hide myself. You've always known who I was. And I thank you for making me be myself." Draco squeezed me in his arms. "I promise you I won't ever let go."
"I love you, Granger," He said.
"I love you more."
"I love you most."
