Pansy smiled, she was excited. She wanted, no, she needed to win this duel to show Draco she was the right one for her. That she was the one who could truly love him.

"Crucio!" Pansy yelled. Fortunately, Hermione dodged it and was untouched.

Hermione pleaded. "Pansy, please, I don't want to hurt you."

"Oh, won't you kill me like you did Ron?"

Hermione flinched. She killed Ron. "Aquamenti!" Water flooded under Pansy's feet and knocked her over. Hermione ran over and held Pansy by the collar.

"Oh, come on, kill me," Pansy teased. "I know you won't."

"You're right. I won't." Hermione dropped her and offered an arm. Pansy smacked it away.

Hermione walked away, eager to leave when Pansy said something. "Oh, we're not done." Hermione turned around. "SECTUMSEMPRA!" A burst of bright light escaped Pansy's wand and hit Hermione. Pansy stood and laughed. "I won," she whispered. "I won!"

Hermione laid on the ground, bleeding out. Her screams and cries for help filled the chamber, but it didn't kill the laughter from Pansy's lips.

This is it, she thought. This is how I'm going to die. Wait for me, Ron. I'm coming.

Draco and Harry blasted themselves to the Chamber of Secrets. Draco ran to Hermione's side while Harry took car of Pansy. "Petrificus totalus," Harry yelled. Pansy froze and fell on her back. Harry ran to Hermione. She was already in Draco's arms.

"Please, Hermione," Draco whispered. "I'm here. You'll be okay. You're safe." These were the last words Hermione heard before giving in to the darkness.

Hermione opened her eyes to a bright flash of light. When her eyes adjusted to the light. She saw Draco asleep next to her. The sunlight peeping from the window made Draco's pale skin seem to shimmer and highlighted his soft locks of hair covering his face. He's kind of cute, she thought. Then she remember what Pansy told her in the Chamber. "...he loves you, not me!" Hermione gave lots of thought. The guy who has hated me for, who knows how long, actually loves me? She examined him more until he started to stir. Hermione panicked, not knowing what to do. She pretended to be asleep. Draco woke and stared at the beauty "sleeping" in front of him. He took her small, perfect hand in his. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I should've taken better care of you." He leaned in to kiss Hermione's forehead. Meanwhile, Hermione stirred and opened her eyes. She found herself staring right into the silver orbs that never felt so warm before. Centimeters away, they stood there, frozen, just staring into each others eyes, not breaking contact.

"Hey, Draco, are you-" Hermione and Draco broke apart, blushing like a thousand suns burned them off the face of the Earth. "Whoa," Harry said. "Ya know what? I'll just catch you later. Nice to see you Hermione."

"Wait, Harry," Hermione pleaded. "Don't go."

Harry smiled and walked to Hermione and Draco. "Okay." An awkward silence filled the room. Never had they stayed in a room where they didn't fight. Harry broke the silence. "Hey, Mione, did you know that Draco stayed here for three days, never leaving the room? Well, only to se the loo." Draco sent a threatening look Harry's way.

Hermione looked at Draco. He really did that? she thought. Changing the subject, Hermione looked at Harry. "Hey, since when were you two such good friends?"

Harry and Draco looked at each other.

Flashback

Harry and Draco apparated to Hogwarts in search of Hermione Granger. The silence lasted for five minutes before Harry spoke. "So, when did you start getting the likes for Hermione?"

Draco sighed. "Well, I never really hated any of you guys, but when my father heard of me trying to befriend you, he got mad and beat me up. So, I had to pretend to hate you. I guess my feelings for Granger developed when she punched in third year. Every girl had been so fucking desperate and trying to get with me. She was just, different."

Harry looked at Draco with some type of pity. "I guess I never thought of how hard it had been for you. Ya know, being a Death Eater and all." Harry stopped. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring that up."

"It's all right," Draco said. "It's just, at one point I really did hate you. You were the Boy Who Lived, had fame basically since you were born. I was the Boy Who Never Had A Choice. I was taught to be evil, and when I disobeyed, I got a whipping. When you disobeyed, you saved someone or something and got a prize. I guess I just got jealous."

Harry stared at Draco while they walked the halls. "Dude, I'm sorry."

"Dude?" Draco asked, confused.

"Sorry, muggle saying," Harry said. Harry smiled and extended an arm. "Truce?"

"Truce."

Right when they shook hands, they heard tortured screams entire the still broken halls of Hogwarts. They ran down the corridors. "The Chamber," Harry said. He grabbed onto Draco and apparated to the Chamber.

End of Flashback

"Oh," Hermione said.

"Hey, Harry, can you go get me that bitter drink thing?" Draco asked.

"What, coffee? Why should I?" Harry said. After receiving a threatening glance from Draco, he got the message. "Oh, coffee, right." He left, leaving the two.

Draco looked at Hermione, not knowing where to start. "Umm, how are you feeling?"

"Fine," Hermione answered. Hesitantly, Draco reached out for Hermione's hand. Her heart flipped.

"Look, I have some explaining to do," Draco said. "I-" Draco sighed. "I love you. I have since you punched me in third year. I never meant a single rude comment I said towards you. I know it's really late to apologize and you probably really hate me. I'm not asking you for a chance, but I'm asking you to forgive me."

Hermione felt every single word he said. "Wow, for the title of Slytherin King, you really have no game," Hermione chuckled.

"Ouch, my ego," Draco faked.

"I'm joking," Hermione said. "Look, what you told me was a lot to take in. I-I don't know if I could ever love again." She thought about Ron. "Losing Ron really hurt me. If I love someone else and lose them too, I don't know what I would do."

Draco squeezed Hermione's hand. "I know. It must have been hard to watch Ron get killed by Greyback, but-"

"Wait," Hermione stopped him. "I-I have to tell someone this. Everyone thinks Greyback killed Ron. The truth is, I did." A glass cup dropped and shattered. Harry stood at the doorway, staring at Hermione. Harry looked and ran away. "No," Hermione cried. "No!"
