Chapter 6 : first day at college

I woke this morning in a rush , trying to dress up quickly in jeans and a chemise , I hardly had time to drink coffee

" Morning " jackie walked out of the bedroom as I was taking the keys

" Morning " I said

" What time is it ? " She asked as she scratched her head

" 7:30 " I replied " I have to go , bye jackie " I said as I opened the door

"Bye " I heard her say as I closed the door behind me

As I went down the stairs and walked out of the lobby I tried to find a taxi to take me to the college , I have never rode a taxi before we always had ' fin' our driver who used to drive us but I had no other choice now as I was really running behind

finally I've found a taxi and we managed to arrive before the first lecture , I rushed to the building trying to get my schedule , finding where the first lecture was , I walked down the hall trying to collect my loose papers into the binder till someone bumped into me causing me to fall on my feet

" Look what you've done " I said to whoever was standing right in front of me , trying to collect the mess of papers and my belongings that just dropped out of my purse

" Pardon me , let me help you" he said as he bent down

" I don't need your help , look where you're going next time " I hissed and looked up to see a handsome blonde man with emerald eyes and perfectly shaped jaw

"Wow somebody is having a bad day ? " he gave me a small smile and stood up leaving me on my knees on the ground

" Here take my hand " he said as he extended his hand

" I don't need your help" I said as I stood up on my own " now move " I rudely ordered as I walked passed him
when I reached the lecture hall , I picked the second row and went to sit there , I took my cellphone out of my purse trying to distract myself as students walked in

More messages .. More missed calls , I guess I will have to get a new number so I could get rid of this agony
Coming here helped me a lot in forgetting the pain that could have haunted me if I stayed there in England , I will never regret my decision because even though I know I am running away from facing the reality ..It was still somehow better for me than facing them

I was interrupted from my thoughts when someone approached and called my name

"Look who is here " the familiar voice said

" Caleb?" I asked , I was utterly astonished to see him standing right here In front of me

" In his flesh babe " he chuckled

"W..What are you doing here " I asked him

" What ? Can't I go to college too ? " He mocked

" I never thought that.. " i said

"You just met me yesterday babe , don't
be so quick to judge " he smirked interrupting me

" now are you reserving that place for someone " He asked and sat down at the same moment before I could reply and diss him

I looked at the students coming in and I noticed the guy I bumped into earlier walking into the lecture hall with 2 other men and a girl with long blonde hair , all of them wearing formally , his eyes met mine for a second but then I quickly looked away

thank god the professor arrived after 5 minutes and started introducing himself "Dr. Brandon" he made us sure that we know that we cant skip more than 4 classes or else , he will drop us from his class

he kept on talking about the greatest companies all around the world , he also happened to mention my family's international company " F-iestrs " and others

" And ofcourse "Riders Co" " He said as he looked towards the right where the guy I've bumped into and his friends were seated in the forth row , the girl was proudly smirking as he mentioned the company , but I think I have heard the name of that company Before but i cant put my finger on it

He dismissed us after 2 hours , just after he left caleb turned to me asking about what I thought about the first lecture

Before I could open my mouth I saw a group of people walking towards us

" caleb " the same guy that I bumped into said

" Jake " caleb replied , so that was his name

they both looked at each other for a while , then jake ( now that I know his name ) turned to me " how's your shoulder " he asked

" Fine" I said and looked at the blonde girl who was now staring at me

" there's an urgent meeting today , your father should've known that by now so we are expecting you to come " jake said

" And you will " the other blonde man standing behind jake said

" Do I miss any " caleb raised his eyebrow at them

" We're just making sure " the girl replied to caleb , " do I know you " the girl turned to me

" I don't think so " I replied but I think I do but I can't still quiet figure it out

" What's your name " she asked

" I think that's none of your business " I raised an eyebrow at her

" I think it is " she said , this caused the boys to stand awkwardly looking at the both of us

" I think not " I challenged , which caused her to move forward and snatch my notebook before I could get it back

" Ashley , then? "She said as she read my name on the first page

" was that hard to say or did that cat eat your tongue then? " she mocked

" you little ..." I said as I stood up

" Hey , I think we had enough " caleb interrupted and stood up

" Jake , I will be there .. Till then we'll meet again " he said

" Goodbye megan" he dismissed her

" Alright , let's go " jake said as he was the first to leave

then he turned around and looked at me and said "bye ashley " which caused Megan to snap at him which made me quiet amused actually but I didn't reply back

I watched them till they all walked out of the door , that's when caleb released his breath

" I didn't know I was holding my breath for that long " he said

" Apparently you do know each other " I stated

" We do , yeah " he said

" And ?" I pushed for more

" Our families have ... some business connections " he tried to explain

" It doesn't look like you're on your best terms " I said

" It's complicated " he tried to close the subject I could tell

" Alright " I shrugged my shoulders

" We don't have any other classes " he said " do you want me to take you home " he offered and I really didn't want to turn it down since I am not really fond of taxis

" Sure "
