Elena was in the commissioner's office, DNA reports in her hand. She had got the reports earlier that morning and now she was here. Their assumptions were correct. DNA of the bodies matches the missing persons'.
The situation was getting bigger and bigger. This was not a simple case; which made it harder to hide the facts from the media anymore. The twenty-five missing persons case had already been a headache for the police department. Moreover, the missing persons' family deserved to know the truth, they deserved to know that their children didn't run away. The news would create mayhem, they know this, but it was the only chance to catch the culprit. They needed help.
There was no clue as for now, they needed one link that would lead them to the miscreant.
"Arrange a press meet, and prepare to brief the media about the situation. You are going to hold the press conference. Also, contact the missing persons' families, let them meet their children." Mr. Jonathan said to Elena.
"Officer! Do your best job to catch the devil," the commissioner added. He was ashamed, regretful that they couldn't solve the missing persons' case. Had they caught up to it earlier, then some of the kids might have been saved. He knew that someone would have to take the responsibility, and he was more than willing.

The press conference was in a state of frenzy. The news had created a chaos. Questions were popping from everywhere. Suddenly, silence spread over the conference room. The commissioner had entered the room in his uniform. He urged Elena to get down and took her place.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen! You all know who I am? I suppose," the commissioner addressed the journalists. "I know you have many questions, but first I want to apologize to the families of victims on behalf of the whole department," the commissioner continued and bowed. Though it was not customary to bow in their country while apologizing, nevertheless he did. He was feeling this much apologetic. His guilt and regret was the main reason he was here.
"I take full responsibility, therefore, hereby I resign my duty as the police commissioner of the state," his statement created an uproar among the journalists. Everyone in the department were shocked, but this was inevitable.

The press conference had ended, Elena, Edward and Peter were in the commissioner's office. They were here to bid farewell to their superior.
"Young lady! What you have got for me? inquired the commissioner. Elena was taken aback by the sudden query, but she quickly regained herself. "Sir, there is no evidence found near or on the bodies for that matter. But one thing is for sure that Mr. Wright is not the culprit. He had shifted here, and taken the job a year ago. The bodies we found are older than that," answered Elena.
"Hmm! Did you find anything to prove your claim? commented the commissioner with a raised eyebrow. He further added, "It is still your speculation that Mr. Wright is innocent and nothing else unless you prove it otherwise. So, find a concrete evidence." He then handed over a flash drive to the junior officer and said, "Also take this drive, it contains the files regarding the missing person's case, go through them thoroughly and start the investigation once again."
This gesture of the commissioner had left them all speechless. It showed how sincere the superior were about his job. "Sir, thank you for this. We will make sure to solve this case" said Edward. "There is no need to thank me, it is our fault anyway. I was the one in charge of the missing person case at that time. We stopped looking for the missing persons, because there was enough evidence that suggested that the boys might have run away somewhere. We didn't think for once that the evidence might have been fabricated."
