There comes a point in  one's life when everything seems to be getting out of hand. All that comes to mind is just insecurities, and self doubt that clouds our better judgment, even our will to fight back. Such inner demon sometimes hold much power. Sometimes one just get scums to the inner demons and become a demon oneself.

The petite ten year old boy was sitting on the cold floor of attic, hugging his knees while crying and rocking back and forth. It was night time and there was darkness outside in the moonless sky, little to no light was coming in the attic. The boy was afraid of the dark yet he was forced to spend the night in the dark room. But he knew this was his fault, he should have listened to his elders. But despite knowing that he defied his elder brother, so he should be punished. This was what he deserved, that's what his father has said, yet he could not understand why he was crying. He was a bad boy, it was his fault, but why was he crying. No, he won't cry, he thought to himself harshly wiping his tears. Bad boys deserve punishment and he will never be a bad boy again.

The fourteen year old was walking fast down the street more like running, it was getting dark and he had broken a house rule. He had gone to his friend's house for a school project, but he stayed after completing his project for some video games. He had thought of playing just for a half hour, but he ended up playing for two hours straight. He was so immersed in the game that he did not even realize the time. When he won the game at last only then he realized about the time and now he was almost running to his home. He knew today he would get punished for being a bad boy, he had not been for four years now. He was cursing himself internally when he realizes something that halted his movements and made him turned around. No one, there was no one. He sighed and started walking his way again. But suddenly he was being grabbed and dragged into the side alley with no other end. He was thrown harshly on the cemented ground.

Fear creeping into his mind, and he screamed, but as quick as a flash his scream turned into a muffled cry by the gag that was put in his mouth by the black silhouette. He could not see or even make out the face as it was dark and his vision was getting blurry with tears of fear coming down. On instinct, he tried to move away from the stranger, but soon realized that he was being straddled by the stranger. He tried again, but this time came a furious slap and with one swift movement his hand were tied above his head. He was fourteen, but he could understand what was going to happen, so he tried and tried and tried, but he could do nothing to stop the stranger. The stranger was destroying everything and yet he could  do nothing. He wanted to die at the very moment. He was praying for death to envelop him, he just wanted it to stop.

Finally, what seemed like eternity it stopped. The man stood up, untied the boy and said "You should have stayed at home at this hour, good boys do not go outside when it is dark." then he went on his way without glancing back at the boy who was lying on the cold ground with little to no clothing covering him, his body was littered with bruises and multiple red blotches.

He was struggling to stay awake, his mind was slowly drifting into nothingness. But the man words kept repeating in his mind. Good boys do not go outside when it is dark. That is what he had done. He went outside, when he should have been at home. It was all his punishment. He deserved it. So, he had been told many times that bad boys receive punishment. Only good boys get the reward. And tonight he became the bad boy when he stayed outside and now it was his punishment. So, he had no right to wallow and pity himself. He should man up and face his punishment.

With that he got up and went home. No one was home when he reached, there was a note on the fridge that they have gone out for the dinner and that his dinner is on the kitchen counter. So his family didn't know that he was late today. He would not tell them anyway because he had already gotten his punishment so there was no point for his family to get angry at him. He got what he deserved. He went to his washroom to clean himself up with a vow that he would never become a bad boy.

"Michael we should not go to the club, we are not allowed yet." The seventeen-year-old teenager was pleading to his friend. He did not want his friend to be a bad boy. The two boys were standing outside a club they come to celebrate Michael's improvement in grades. They both had worked hard for this and now their dream had been achieved so a Michael wanted to celebrate, and he agreed as a result he was here. It was definite that he would not go to the club, but he just wanted his friend to not to go either. But his friend was not listening to him. "Oh, come on champ it will be fun besides we look old enough to pass out the entrance. Just once this time I promise we would not go there again, but just this once, please." Michael said hopefully. "No, I am not going, bad boys do not break the rules of the society and it is the rule that clubbing is not legal until we come of age" exclaimed the other. "Oh! Please champ enough with a bad boy good boy gibberish. I am going inside whether or not you are coming, it's up to you," huffed Michael and went on his way.

"pf ff, I wanted to save you from the punishment you will get from being a bad boy, but I guess one should learn to own his mistakes and receive the punishment." He sighed and glanced at the club's door, turned around and went away.

It is not hard times that pave the way but the choices that we make in our hard time are the one which define us as who we are. Even when there is no one to help us to fight our inner demons we are with ourselves. We are our own best friends because no one can know ourselves better than us so we must fight until the last. That is why we are humans because we have the ability to change and decide for ourselves.

A/N: I did not intended this chapter to come out as dark as it is. But this is the beginning so what can i say. But the thing is we all come across with our inner demons at some point but instead of giving in to them one should hold the ray of light that tells that the Humans are the most beautiful creature of GOD. And no matter what you do, what you look like, you are beautiful because HE has made you beautiful. Don't let someone tell you otherwise. Loving yourself is the only remedy to fight the inner demons.
