*MAY OR MAY NOT BE SPOILERS READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION*
So first things first (I am the realest) WHAT THE F***ING HELL?! Now that I got that out I will begin the review of this emotional book. I loved this fanfic by willtwerk4tacos except the ending has me feeling all type of ways. Escpecailly because this is a 1d fic and I am a Harry girl.
This fic is beautifully written. Although some aspects of the story are very similar to the popular book Divergent. For example the main character named Four (which is actually Harry Styles) has the same name as the main lead male character in the book. Also the ending is very similar to the ending of Divergent. Where the main character is killed off. Which I find very interesting.
Not every book you read has a ending like this. Most writers will drag out the story to make a sequel or continue on the chapters, but not willtwerk4tacos. The chapters are long which I like and there are about 80 as well as an epilogue. The epilogue does not wrap up everything I would like it to, but it does interest me in many ways.
A lot of aspects of the story are kind of confusing at points, but then are sort of explained in following chapters. But some of the parts are distinguished then not even explained until 20 chapters later which if you are like me and read only when you have free time you tend to forget about it and are like,"what."
The relationship between Hunter and Harry (or Four it got confusing because they switched his point of view a lot as Four or Harry.) is quite toxic. Hunter says he is poison to her, but yet she goes back to him even when he tries to murder her (which he eventually does whoops.) She is sometimes naiive throughout the chapters which has you like, "COME ON YOU KNOW BETTER THAN THAT HUNTER!" which I may or may not have screamed at the device I was reading this fic on............. Now Harry (or Four idk I'm still confused about it) has a identity thing. Like he turned into this dude name Four but he's really Harry. IDK if you haven't read the story read it she explains it much better than I can. He can sometimes get angry and then she never explains why even when the point of view is on him.
This isn't one of those typical carroty fanfictions. She doesn't use the other members of One Direction as characters either. I quite like that because sometimes when I do read ones with them in it as well, it gets kind of carroty. This story is not carroty at all. It has a good plot and is mature. The girl who is supposed to play Hunter is not a regular looking actress. She's not bone thin and has perfect blonde hair and a perfect face.
The ending is still getting to me. The beginning was sort of slow but once you read on it gets fast and pulls you in. You end up reading it at two in the morning with out even realizing you have been reading it since eight. They end it with Harry or Four (whoever he is) taking a gun out of his jacket pocket the shoots a sleeping Hunter. They were perfectly in love and he said he did it because he wanted her to be out of the misery he caused. Like stupid boy you can just break up with her, move away, change your name, whatever you do to get away from a person. NOT SHOOTING THEIR BRAINS OUT!!!!!
Anyway I loved this fic even though the ending still has me thinking at strange hours of the night. It has action, some smut, romance, and mystery. It has you on your toes and at the edge of your seat.
I would give this an 8 out of 10. A must read if you are Harry af
