Once in a Life Time

(2 years later)

(Niki is 5 years old)

(In the house, Elizabeth once again calls for Niki)

Elizabeth: Niki!

(This time she immediately comes down)

Elizabeth: Guess what?

Niki: What? (Wagging tail)

Elizabeth: You have a doctors appointment.

Niki: (gives a disgruntled look) I'm going back to my room.

(Elizabeth picks her up before the starts walking)

Elizabeth: (smiling) Oh no, you're not. (Picks her up)

(An hour later)

(In a check-up room, a doctor is checking Niki's heart beat)

Dr: Breath in.

(Niki inhales)

Dr: Breath out.

(Niki exhales)

Dr: Huh, that's odd.

Elizabeth: (worried) What?

Dr: Her heart... Seems to be beating a lot faster than it needs to be, to even be this calm.

Elizabeth: (worried turns into slight annoyance) I'm pretty sure I can guarantee why.

(A few minutes later Henry walks in the room)

Elizabeth: We need to talk outside the room.

Dr: Well, let's at least keep your daughter entertained until then.

(The doctor turns on the TV for Niki as they step out of the room)

(Niki watches the TV and the news is on)

Reporter1: This is Cindy reporting live, with the two famous heros, Sonic and Tails. So, for the both of you, how has your life been since you became heros?

Sonic: Well, this question is asked a lot, but same response as always. We've had our hard times here and there and we just wanted for everyone to know who's watching. If there's anyone out there wanting to become a hero, go for it, just as long as you know what your getting into.

(Niki's eyes shine wide every time she hears an inspirational message from Sonic)

(The parents and doctor come back in. Elizabeth and Henry are still arguing with each other)

Elizabeth: No! You said that she wouldn't get it.

Henry: I never said that she wouldn't. I just said that it would be rare.

Elizabeth: Fine. Whatever. (Caressing her fingers between her eyes closed)

(1 week later)

(The scene is still at the door to Niki's bedroom)

Niki: Mom! Come here!
