Chapter 5

"I guess I'm not needed" I hear a voice say and we both jump apart

"Maya what are you still doing here," I ask blushing

"I decided to be a good best friend and stay to help you get out of those pants then decided to be a better best friend and wait till after you guys made out to tell you I'm here," she says and I blush

"I need time, my ex and I just broke up last week," I tell Ethan and he nods and leaves and when he does I head into the locker room and towards the showers and Maya helps me figure out the pants

"Any chance you have body wash and shampoo?" I ask Maya

"Yeah we are so not glossing over what happened with you and Ethan are you moving on he's not just a rebound is he?" she asks sounding legitimately concerned

"He's not a rebound. I think I'm starting to like him because he's cute and sweet that kiss was way too soon but I think it was the best kiss I've ever had," I say and she squeals and I shower change and pull my hair into a bun before walking out with her

"So are you going to play in the flag football game against the Salvatore school?" she asks and I really don't want to I don't really want to see Landon or any of them really especially if they can't remember me

"Yeah, she's playing QB1 because I can't risk my scholarship," Ethan says showing up next to me

"I am?" I ask

"Yeah the whole football team goes but people with scholarships and stuff can't risk getting hurt in some pick-up game," another guy says

"Hey Ethan Evens Marshall Wilson get in," Dennis says pulling up and I look at Maya who pulls out her phone and we exchange numbers

"Go I'll text you," she says and I nod and get in the bed of the truck with Ethan and two other guys I'm guessing are Wilson and Evens and we end up at the Salvatore school

"Why are we here?" I ask panicking slightly

"Tradition," Dennis says and he and Ethen get into an argument while I see a wolf in the corner of my eye and slip away before they realize I'm missing

"Rafael?" I ask seeing the black wolf and I can't tell if he recognizes me or even his name he must have used the ring after all and I'm the only one who can change him back he must have been a wolf for months

"I can change you back," I say slowly walking towards him and he lets me take the necklace off of him

"Hope what the hell's going on where have you been why is Landon dating Josie," he says and I gasp

"Oh god you remember me um remember the pit that makes things not exist I went in the pit to destroy it but it didn't work and I'm back and nobody remembers," I say and he looks at me like I'm crazy

"OK so we'll tell Landon and fix things," he says like it's the obvious solution and maybe it is but I can't tell him

"He's with Josie now and they're happy and I loved him, but I think we're all better off. Forgetting me took away a lot of pain from a lot of people. Not to mention for once in my life I get to be normal, nobody's coming after me, the tribrid was never born. My Dads enemies forgot I ever existed Alaric has a basic understanding of everything but everyone else is in the dark and needs to stay there" I say and he reluctantly nods

"Fine I owe you my life," he says reluctantly causing me to roll my eyes and then hear them looking for me

"Shit I came with some kids to vandalize the school before the flag football game," I say and he laughs as I walk away

"Sorry I'm over here," I say coming out of the woods and Ethan puts his arm around me and looks at Rafael intimidatingly

"That's Raf my ex's best friend and practically my brother" I whisper to Ethan and I know Raf hears

"I just got back in town and heard you guys you should go before someone calls the cops," he says and we climb in the truck again and I see Raf disappear again

"You don't need to get jealous Raf and I are practically siblings nothings ever going to happen there," I say and he shakes his head

"I'm not jealous," he says and I snort

"Sure your not," I say and lean back against the side of the truck falling asleep

"Where does she live?" I hear Dennis ask

"Mystic apartments number 218 keys under the mat" I mumble and ignore when one of them lifts me up, carries me to my apartment and puts me on my bed. I hear him leave and I fall asleep immediately. I wake up to like 20 texts from Rafael. So I text him my cover story.

RAFA: Your lucky the schools don't interact much because this cover wouldn't fly here

HOPE: I know I didn't really think I was going to be staying in town it was a cover to catch a troll cyclops thing then I realize I have nowhere to go besides the people at the school know about Malivore if worse comes to worst we can tell them some of the truth.

RAFA: I'll see you at the game I guess good luck with that boy I hope you find happiness

HOPE: Yeah see you hope you find happiness too

After texting him I move on to Mayas texts which are basically what happened after I left if I'm nervous about seeing my ex can I set her up with someone from my old school and can she do my hair for the game the later of which I tell her fine before getting dressed and heading to school and hoping today won't end with me crying over people who no longer know I exist
