A New Hope

Chapter 6

When I get to the school someone had TP'd it and as I'm looking around a police car pulls up

"This looks pretty self-explanatory but you want to give it a shot" the new sheriff says getting out of the car

"Um, toxic masculinity mixed with outdated sports pranks?" I say and the police car's back window rolls down which I didn't even know they did, I mean it can't be legal what if someone's arrested and goes out the window at a stop light (A/N: I had this argument with my brother when we saw the episode we googled it and yes they actually do roll down)

"There's no way Hope did it she's a Timberwolf, not a Stallion," Maya says

"Maya?!? What happened?" I ask shocked

"Oh don't worry she's my mom we don't really like to talk about it," she says getting out of the car and I'm confused

"We?" I ask

"Hey Hope," Ethan says getting out of the other side of the car and I am both shocked and confused

"Ethan? Wait so you guys are?" I say

"My kids no matter how much it embarrasses them," Sheriff says

"Cause who doesn't like getting dropped off to school in a cop car," Ethan says and both him and Maya grab my arms and walk me away

"I'm on official business" she yells after us

"Wait so you two are the only people I consider friends at this school and your siblings," I say

"Twins actually but that's besides the point," Maya says

"Oh my god you're basically my bestfriend and I kissed your brother," I say looking at Maya who rolls her eyes

"To be fair I offered to set you guys up like 2 minutes after meeting you," She says and Ethan looks shocked

"Wait what?" he asks

"It was to make her ex jealous besides she's totally your type trust me I'm your twin and I'm tired of watching you waste your time on girls who only want you cause your QB and have a scholarship to play in college," Maya says and he looks away

"Besides my nieces and nephews are going to be gorgeous," she says and I blush

"Maya!" we both yell and she laughs

"You can't deny it your both hot," she says rolling her eyes

"Oh fyi I'm staying with you after the game today so I can go through your wardrobe and get rid of everything hideous," she says

"Maya!" Ethan says

"What she's the one saying I'm the only girl she considers her friend meaning we're basically best friends and I can invite myself over and go through her stuff," she says and I laugh

"Yeah sure it'll be fun having someone else around and we can go shopping tomorrow to refill all the clothes she gets rid of," I say and she smiles

"See best friends," she says and hooks her arm with mine and we head to our first period and onto the day then after school Maya and I change and she starts working on my hair

"Maya, I'm going to be running and sweating and gross. Why does my hair needs to be cute and have glitter in it?" I ask annoyed I absolutely hate glitter

"We're going to the Salvatore School your ex is going to be there and so is his new girl so you need to look hot make him regret it," she says and I smile

"Thanks M," I say and she smiles

"Besides my brothers coming on the bus with us even though he's not playing and seeing you two together is bound to make him jealous," she says and I sigh and give her a look

"Who my ex or your brother?" I ask

"Why can't it be both," she says and I roll my eyes she is dead set on getting me and Ethan together for some reason

"Besides the fact that you setting me up with your twin is weird, I'm not ready for a relationship and I don't want to lead him on," I say as she finishes my eyeliner and glitter

"Nobody's ever ready and the timing is never right sometimes you just need to take the jump," she says and we walk to the bus and I sit with her and Ethan sits next to me across the aisle

"What's with the hair and glitter?" he asks

"Your sister's idea to make my ex realize he messed up," I say rolling my eyes and the bus starts heading to the Salvatore School

"Well I guess I can't back out anymore," I say nervously

"You were going to back out?" Ethan asks confused

"Duh the ex she never wanted to see again and his new girlfriend are here, not to mention she used to go to this school and transferred to a public school not even 5 minutes away so there are bound to be a ton of rumors people probably think she's pregnant or her family cut her off. I mean this is a rich school right or they think she's heartbroken and can't deal with being around her ex and his new girl which may be true but she doesn't want him to know that" Maya says and none of it is true well I am heartbroken but none of them know I exist and that is harder than anything she just said and as the bus stops I have what I'm going to assume is a mini panic attack because I literally can't breath

"Oh god I can't do this," I say freaking out and Ethan grabs my shoulders to try to get me to calm down and it doesn't work

"They're either going to hate me, target me, or ignore me. Why did I think I could do this?" I ask

"Hope breath you got this put a pissed off look on your face and walk out the bus behind me. Let them see your good and if it's too much we'll make him see you moved on, if you feel yourself freaking out again stand next to me and I'll put my arm around your shoulder it'll hopefully calm you down and make him think you're moving on even if your not ready yet" he says and I nod and take a breath before I follow him off the bus and immediately see Landon staring at me. So I walk to Ethan who, as he said puts his arm around my shoulder and starts telling everyone the game plan for me to be QB. I'm sent onto the field with Maya for the coin flip and I can immediately tell they are going to be using their powers and we're going to lose because the headmaster used magic on the coin. They get the ball and he tells us to shake hands, Landon holds mine for a second too long which is weird and Josie is a bitch to me about it

"I take it they're-" Maya starts and I nod

"Yep let's not talk about it here," I say and she shrugs and they score in like two seconds 

"You got this" Ethan says and I smile before turning to Maya

"We are so screwed" I say and she seems confused but I ignore it and we huddle up

"I've literally never done this before but um everyone go long I guess," I say

"I'm good with that Timberwolves on 3," Maya says and counts to 3 and we yell before heading on the field where Maya hikes the ball and I throw it long right as Landon knocked me to the ground. I feel my ankle break but I just push him off me and limp off the field because Maya scored and I sit on the floor and have to rebreak and set my ankle

"You ok you need a nurse or medic?" Alaric asks rushing over with Ethan and Maya not far behind

"No I'm fine just rolled wrong," I say and stand up fine

"I could have sworn I heard it break" I hear MG say a little ways away from me and I sigh

"MG," I say under my breath and he looks at me

"Don't make a scene I have vampire blood in my system" I whisper making sure he's the only vampire who can hear and his eyes go wide but he nods slightly the game goes on. At the half it is pretty close even with them using magic and Ethan gives everyone a pep talk before we go back out they stop using magic and we pull ahead. In the last few minutes I go to throw the ball and my wrist snaps and I know it's dark magic because it isn't healing as quickly as it should and everyone around me panics
