Chapter 8

I wake up to someone knocking on my door and it's way too early

"Did I wake you up?" Ethan asks with a smirk and I glare

"Wake up your sister I'm going to get dressed," I say and walk away I change into a simple tank top and jeans knowing Mayas going to get rid of everything else

"You know how they say money is the root of all evil?" I ask and they nod

"They're wrong it's glitter, I swear it's everywhere," I say and they laugh as I grab my purse and head to Ethan's truck which is older and only has 3 seats and I end up in the middle

"Why am I in the middle," I ask

"Because there are only 3 seats and his driving makes me sick so I need to be by the window," Maya says and I roll my eyes

"Ok, where are we getting breakfast?" Maya asks

"I don't really care I just need coffee," I say yawning and we pull up at the little cafe mom and I used to go to every time she came down and I smile and we go in and get a booth where we order our coffee and look at the menu even though I know what I'm ordering, chocolate chip peanut butter pancakes with bananas and apples on top and the other order regular breakfast foods

"So why did you guys invite me to breakfast and hang with you today," Ethan asks

"We're going shopping and need you to carry bags not to mention we needed your truck," Maya says and he rolls his eyes

"Fine but one of you is paying for gas," he says and I nod

"Yeah I'll pay for gas that's not a problem," I say

"So if you have a truck why did your mom drive you to school the other day?" I ask

"It had a flat and I didn't have a spare but she got me one and I put it on this morning," he says and I nod and we talk about where we're going until the food gets here and my food looks just like I remember it 

"That looks disgusting," Maya says and I laugh as I dig in

"It's amazing," I say and she takes a bite of them

"Good but way too sweet," she says and I turn to Ethan

"Want to try some?" I ask him

"No way," he says and I get a piece and try to feed him making him squirm and Maya laugh until he finally eats it 

"Pretty good why would you try that though?" he says

"When I was little my mom and I would come here and I'd get this and a hot chocolate I was 7 the first time, besides I've always had a sweet tooth. When I was 7 I got um sick and my dad pretty much cleaned out one of the best bakeries in New Orleans Mom had to make me stop eating I ate so many sweets I made myself sick," I say and they laugh then after we eat we head to the mall

"I have a bad feeling we're not going anywhere for a while" I tell Ethan and Maya starts piling him up with clothes

"Oh I don't wear skirts" I say and she rolls her eyes

"You do now," she says and I groan but let her get what she wants, I don't have to wear what she buys anyways after she vetoes everything I pick I decide to just sit and talk to Ethan which was probably Maya's plan all along

"So how are things with your Aunt?" he asks me

"Better she hasn't called since before the game yesterday which is great we aren't really that close she just started calling and being overprotective when I started living alone," I say and he nods

"Do you think she's going a bit overboard?" he asks me

"Let her have her fun she'll probably be wearing a lot of this more than me," I say and he looks at me like I'm crazy

"Ok now the fun part!" she squeals grabbing both of us and we immediately grab all the clothes and then I realize she isn't heading to the cashier she's heading to the dressing rooms

"Maya I don't want to try on clothes," I say and she pouts

"Come on please it'll be fun" she begs and Ethan is no help at all

"Uh I hate you both," I say and he laughs and sits down in the chairs right by the dressing room while Maya follows me into one of the bigger dressing rooms and starts giving me outfits shoes and accessories included and then sends me out to model them for Ethan who is getting a kick out of my pain all the clothes she picked are more her style than mine and they are definitely not clothes I would normally wear but they are comfortable and I don't mind wearing them as much as I thought I would after around an hour I'm finally done and we got rid of a couple before we go to check out and it comes out to $350 which isn't too bad so I just swipe my card and sign before we grab the bags 

"Ok let's drop these off at the car and head to the next store," Maya says

"You can't be serious look how much you bought you spent over 300 dollars on clothes in one store," Ethan says being sensible

"It's fine I'm planning on spending a couple of thousand shopping today so we have a ways to go," I say and he shakes his head and says we're both crazy and we head to the next store the routine being basically the same until the last store which was a sports goods store to buy cleats and then headed back to my apartment where they helped me put everything away and Maya threw all the clothes I own into a bag that she sent Ethan to donate them

"ok I need your computer," she says and I roll my eyes and get her my laptop and credit card

"What now?" I ask

"Make-up and hair stuff," she says and I groan and lay on the couch next to her

"Do I get a say in any of it?" I ask and she rolls her eyes and tilts the computer so I can see what she's adding to cart using 7 different websites and I roll my eyes because most of it is stuff I don't need but whatever 

"So was your ex your first serious boyfriend?" she asks me

"I guess I mean I dated this guy when I was 14 but it didn't last he was a lot older and charming and my dad did not approve at all it really didn't go further than my first kiss. We tried to run away together only to have my dad track us down and drag us home it was one of the only time's dad grounded me" I say thinking of Roman and we both laugh

"When I was 14 I dated Ethan's friend he cheated on me and Ethan broke his jaw it was the first time I felt like he had my back I mean it may seem weird because you're friends with both of us but even though we're twins Ethan and I have never really been close," she says and I smile

"Well maybe I'm what you need to be closer," I say and then my phone starts ringing

"Yeah?" I ask

"Hope we need to talk?" Rafael says

"Um now is not the best time," I say

"I'm at your door," he says and hangs up and I sigh and turn to Maya

"Maya Ralfeal's at the door," I say and see her eyes go huge before I head to the front door
