I woke up the next morning in Harry's arms. He was still asleep, so I just stayed right where I was so I wouldn't wake him. His arms were still wrapped around me like they had been last night before I fell asleep, and they were warm and muscular. I looked down and noticed his hand was entertwined with one of mine. He must have been holding my hand before I fell asleep, too.
I moved my head slowly so I could get a quick look at him. His curly hair was a mess, with swirls going every which way, and you could see a slight shine from not washing it for over three days. His skin was still glowing, but his lips were chapped from licking them too often. Maybe that was a little habit of his. Or maybe they were chapped because of the heat and humidity we were facing here.
I felt Harry start to move, and breath in heavily like people usually do when their just starting to wake up. His hand squeezed mine a bit, but I didn't mind. I was still looking at him when his eyes fluttered open and stared into mine.
"Good morning, beautiful." Harry yawned after flashing a little smile.
"Good morning, handsome." I said, smiling back.
I sat up so Harry could get up and become more comfortable- Because honestly, he wasn't looking like he was too.. Comfy. - But he barely moved and pulled me up against him again so my head was back on his chest. I chuckled before wrapping my arms back around him.
"Chilly much?" I asked, feeling the goosebumps on his arms.
"Not really. As long as I have you to keep me warm." He chuckled.
I let out a little laugh before sitting up and looking at Harry. I felt my stomach flipping over when I looked at him, but I didn't really understand why. I mean, of course I know why.. It's because I loved him. But you think I would be used to this by now. I did see him everyday at school since we were Freshman. I guess there was just something about looking into those big, bright green eyes that made my head spin around.
"What's wrong?" Harry asked, looking a bit concerned.
"Oh, nothing," I said, quickly shaking my head. "I was just thinking. Maybe we should do something today. Something fun. You know, to get our minds off things."
"That sounds good. How about a date?"
"A date? Like, with flowers and romance and stuff?" I asked.
"Sure, why not? We can cook a small dinner, talk about life, maybe even camp under the stars. It'll be fun." Harry urged, explaining the various things we could do.
"I'm up for it," I smiled. "But, let me wash up or something first. I smell like a baby penguin threw up on me."
"And how would you know how that smells?"
"That field trip we took two years ago." I said, remembering every detail.
The Sophmores got to go on a class trip to a zoo a couple years back to learn about animals environment and surroundings. We were supposed to be taking notes to provide information on an essay that we needed to write about an animal of our choice. I, of course picked a penguin, being the adventurous girl that I am. So, seems how Harry and I were friends back then, him, Grace and I walked over to where the penguins were. The zoo keeper said that I could feed the baby penguin a little snack as he handed me a piece of food. I took it and shoved it through the gate slowly as the baby pecked at it, eating it carefully. When it was finally finished, it flapped it's wings and started making some weird noise. I started to laugh, thinking that the penguin was trained to do that. Well, it turns out it wasn't. The penguin then threw up the snack all over me leaving me soaked in barf. Of course, Harry and Grace just stood there and laughed, holding their stomaches.
"Oh, right," Harry chuckled, remembering now. "We can go down to the fantasy land then. I need to wash up too. Plus, we need water to drink for our date."
The "fantasy land" was what Harry and I called the waterfall. It reminded the two of us of something you would see in the movies, therefor calling it by that name.
Harry and I got up, looking through the little bag we found in the water a couple days ago. Every other day we'd find another students travel bag, full of clothing and other things they brought along with them. This bag we found happened to have boy and girl clothing in it. We figured it was the Thorths Twins, who were brother and sister and did basically everything together. This bag wasn't a bad find either, because they were both decent looking kids with nice clothing. Plus, they carried almost everything with them. I grabbed a pair of jean shorts and a tang-top with a cute laced back to it, and the shampoo and conditioner that was in the bag. Harry grabbed a hair brush and a package of something else, plus a teeny bar of soap. (You see what I mean about those twins packing everything?)
When Harry and I were finished grabbing the supplies, we walked down to the Fantasy Land and jumped into the cool water, leaving our clothes on the rocks. (Yes, we kept our undergarments on.) We swam to where the little waterfall was, using that as a shower head type thing and shampoo'd and conditioned our hair. After that was over with, we washed our bodies and threw the supplies on the waters edge. Seems how we weren't really in the mood to get out of the water, we swam around a bit, playing Marco Polo and dunking each others heads underwater. Then we took our dirty clothes and rinsed them in the water, and wadded the wet clothing into a ball.
We jumped out of the water and threw our dry clothes on, brushing our hair out- Well, I brushed my hair out - and walking back to our camp. It was starting to get a bit chilly outside. It may need have seemed like it, but it was past five at night. Harry and I slept in until about two, and we just spent a good amount of time messing around at the lake.
"Alright, so. Food, check," Harry smiled, pointing to the pile of bananas, coconuts, pineapples and mangos we found and collected two days ago. "Fire?"
I quickly ran over to the fire with the pair of glasses and lit it before saying, "Check."
"Good. Uhm.. I think we're missing something," Harry said, holding his chin and looking at the sky. "Oh, yes. The gorgeous young lady and her stunning date."
"Oh, we could never forget that." I teased as he pulled me into him. He looked me in the eyes before kissing me on the lips, making my head spin all around once again.
"Now, dinner." Harry smiled after slowly pulling away from the kiss. I followed him over to the lit fire as we sat down next to the food. I grabbed a little army knife I found in a different bag and started slicing the fruit, placing it on a log table Harry and I had built just for this occassion. When everything was cut and prepared, the two of us dug in, gorging ourselves with the juicy fruits.
When we felt like we couldn't eat anymore, we looked at each other and smiled. It was now beginning to get dark outside, and a bit chillier, so I went in the hut and grabbed two sweatshirts out of the bag. I handed one to Harry when I sat next to him by the fire.
"Thank you," He smiled before putting it on and standing up. He held his hand out to me. "Would you care to dance?"
"But there's no music."
"Do you know who you're with right now?" Harry joked, winking at me.
I gladly took his hand as he helped me stand up. He then pulled me in and started moving his feet as he started to sing a song. I couldn't quite make out which song it was, but I didn't care. As long as I was with Harry, I was perfectly fine.
Harry spun me around in circles, guiding me through the dancing. He kept singing different songs, and then suddenly stopped humming. I looked at him, puzzled.
"I love you, Daniella." He said, smiling as he looked into my eyes.
"I love you too, Harry." I smiled.
Then, I put my head on his chest again as he held my hand and kept dancing, singing while our feet moved. He spun me in circles and pulled me in for kisses from time to time, and that's how the rest of the night went.
That was how our first date went. And it couldn't be more perfect.
