The Evolved

Chapter 1

I opened my eyes and as soon as I did the light blinded me. It had been so long since we had been out in the air. It felt good and I took a deep breath. I turned and looked back at Alex, my newfound best friend, and smiled. It had been two months since the accident which had wiped out most of the human race. The accident caused a global explosion giving some humans different superhuman abilities. We had been the only survivors... Us and the human-wolf hybrids that had survived too.

Alex came and stood by my side. "Where exactly are we?" he said. "Looks like New York... Or what's left of it," I answered. "Soooo, what now?" asked Alex's little sister Kate. "We move on!" I said abruptly.

As we walked I looked back at my friends, Alex was behind me talking to Kate. They had both been given psychic abilities like mind reading and telepathy. Alex was 14 and Kate was around 9. Behind them was Beth, who was also 14, who could make duplicate versions of herself. A few paces behind Beth was Dani who's voice could shatter steel. She usually didn't talk much because of this, but when she did there was a lot of wisdom in her voice. There were about 6 others, all with different abilities including shape shifting, invisibility and strength.

What about me I hear you ask, well... I'm different...
