The next day my best friend jehanne came over and questioned me about the bergundy jacket. "oh. I met a girl called ray and she-" "ray? As in rayannah heasley in year nine?" I shrugged "I guess.. She is in year nine." "and she gave YOU her jacket?" I nodded and she shook her head "well give her her jacket back at school on Monday, and then stay away. I mean it." I quirked an eyebrow. "why?" I asked suspiciously. "because," she began in a isn't-it-obvious voice "her girlfriend is rosie deerfeild." "and?" "she is the girl who beat up georgia for hanging out with her girlfriend. Who is ray." I raised an eyebrow as I realized. Jehannes sisters bestfriend got beat up by Rosie for hanging around ray. Now it made sense. I shrugged, facing jehanne. "look it's fine, I'll give her her jacket first thing on Monday and then never talk to her again." jehanne smiled "good. It's for your own good, I don't want my best friend being beat up."

The rest of the weekend dragged on and I couldn't help but think about ray. She seemed so nice. Surely she wouldn't let Rosie do anything? It's not like Ray made a move, she just leant me her jacket and only because it was raining. On Monday morning I walked into the hall and across the room ray stood leaning against the wall laughing with a group of people- including rosie. I walked over, and as I got closer I felt their eyes on me. When I looked up, only a few feet away, Ray was staring coldly at me before her eyes fell on the jacket and she looked panicky, sparing a glance at rosie. "i er.." I cleared my throat "this is yours." Ray opened her mouth to speak, but before she could rosie stepped floor with a bitter glare "why the fuck do you have MY girlfriends jacket?" she snarled in a dangerously low voice. "i-" ouch. I was cut off by rosie punching me hard in the mouth and I felt blood trickle down my bottom lip. "rosie! It's fine, she's straight. She's my er cousin!" ray exclaimed desperately, standing between me and rosie. Rosie shot me a dirty look. "this.. Thing.. Is your cousin?" Ray nodded "ugh!" she stormed off without another word. I turned to face ray "sorry about her.." she mumbled "it's fine." I handed her her jacket and turned to walk away when she stopped me, raising her hand to touch my lips softly, brushing over the newly forming bruise and cut. I met her sympathetic eyes in understanding before stepping back, remembering that rosie could be near and I didn't even know her. "well thanks bye!" I rushed out before walking away quickly before she could reply.

I got to where jehanne and my friends were stood and heard a horrified gasp from jehanne. "what did you do?! I told you to-" I held up my hand and she stopped. "she hit me before I could explain." she nodded, realizing nothing could really be done.
