We got through half the lesson without romi even talking to us until she kicked me under the table and I looked up, meeting her eyes. "uh-" "sorry!" she giggled "oh by the way, do you guys want to meet up after school tommorow? You can both come." she added, speaking to both of us but looking at jehanne. We shrugged "I guess."

"I wonder what that was about.." I muttered as the bell went for lunch and romi walked out quickly. "yeah right, she's never spoken to us before.. And now she invites us to her house." jehanne said thoughtfully, grabbing her bag and putting her stuff away. Somehow we're always the last ones out of class. "don't forget," she began with a mischievous wink- jehanne doesn't wink- "we're meeting ray behind the canteen." "ugh this is going to be soo awkward." I groaned "oh shut up, you love it." "huh?" "I know you love the attention, don't deny it." I didn't reply for several seconds and she yelled "ha! I knew it." making me jump.

We walked outside, sneaking behind the canteen- we're not actually aloud there and I saw ray, Sat on the floor, leaning against the wall oppiste us. She had a cigarette between her lips and breathed in before letting out a puff of smoke and grinning at us. I didn't know she smoked- I don't have a problem with it, jehanne smokes sometimes.. I don't dissagree with it, I just didn't know she smoked. She met my eyes, patting the space next to her "sit yo ass down and stop being awkward!" she chuckled. I did before she shuffled closer, putting an arm round my shoulder and leaning in "heyy beanie buddy!" she squealed. I rolled my eyes. I'd woken up with messy hair, so I wore my teal beanie to school, only to realize she was wearing her grey one. I scowled playfully "no. Don't steal my style, I pull it off better then you anyways." I joked and she laughed. Not like her usual chuckle or sarcastic laugh, she kind of went "ha!" and then blushed. Wow what I said wasn't even humorous in the slightest.. But I did notice that when she laughed she had those crinkles by her eyes that you get when you truly laugh. It was genuinely beautiful. I then decided that I prefered her laugh over her sarcastic smirk- though I loved that too, so I just kind of tried to make her laugh purposefully but I don't think she noticed. "why are you blushing?" I teased, poking her cheek which got linked as she blushed more. We made eye contact, and I got a weird feeling at the bottom of my belly- like the butterflies you get when you're excited, but this was better. I completely forgot where we were and it's kind of like time stopped for a few seconds- which sounds so cheesy and cliché, but it's true. The silence was broken abruptly by jehanne clearing her throat, not sure wether it was the right thing to do or not. I turned to look at her and she shrugged. "so uh.. Ray, you still with rosie?" she asked casually. "huh- oh yeah. Yeah, I am." jehanne nodded "so are you happy with her?" ray looked down at her hands, avoiding eye contact "I guess. I mean, I really do love her.. I just.." she trailed off "Im just not in love with her. I see her as a friend. She's seriously a lovely person. That day she punched nala two years ago is not her. She is genuinely lovely." we nodded. "but. Why are you still with her then?" Ray sighed realizing how awkward the conversation had got "I can't- not yet. I love her as a friend and I can't loose that, y'know?" jehanne murmered in agreement and I just smiled in an as understanding way as I could. "so do you guys smoke?" she asked, changing the subject. "I do sometimes." jehanne replied, pulling out her phone as it began calling, playing "somewhere in neverland" by all time low. "ah, it's my mum, I'll be back in a sec!" she said, anwersing the phone and walking around the corner. "I meant what I said in the letter nal." she said quietly, resting her head on my shoulder softly. "you should be confident with who you are, you're beautiful inside and out." I gave her a sceptical look and she raised her eyebrows defensively "what? I'm serious!" she protested "thanks." "guys I'm ba-" jehanne paused momentarily, noting Ray resting her head on my shoulder, playing with my short hair. "-ck." she finished, giving me a thumbs up.
