They all grabbed some breakfast in the motel before leaving.
Jack lent some of his clothes to Sonny to which thankfully kind of fit---the other was slightly taller than him but Sonny was lankier and skinnier compared to Jack.
He smiled widely once Sonny came out of the bathroom wearing his striped white shirt and ripped jeans.
The three decided to order some eggs and sausages over the motel's diner and honestly, it was a bit overpriced.
It tastes like shit but they were hungry so Jack did not complain.
Once they all finished eating, Harper excused himself to the bathroom with Sonny following him, asking if he could accompany him too.
Harper agreed, telling Jack they should all meet up by the car. Jack was left alone to pay the bill and he went over to the cashier which was managed by a nice-looking old lady.
He flashed her a charming grin, giving her two bills. The old lady thanked him and checked the register, excusing herself for a second as she looked for more change.
It was too early in the morning to pay that much, apparently.
Jack tapped his fingers over the counter, his eyes wandering over the wooden table. His gaze suddenly stopped over a pink purse that was lying near the register.
He glanced over if there was anyone peeking around before sneakily grabbing the purse. He checked what was inside and discovered a few bills, coins and a shiny silver chain necklace.
Jack grinned, quickly snatching the contents and hiding them in his pockets. He brought the purse back to place, the old lady returning a few seconds later as she apologized to Jack for the wait.
Jack brushed her off, saying thank you as he got the change. He went out of the motel, skipping happily to the awaiting Harper and Sonny, who were both sitting inside the car.
He sat on the shotgun seat, Harper slowly starting the car as he shook his head, "So, what did you get this time?"
Jack beamed, showing him his coup. "Some bills and a shiny necklace."
He glanced back, smiling at Sonny as he passed him the jewelry, "I bet this would look good on you, Curlies."
Sonny's irises widened, his mouth agape, "Did---did you nick this?"
"Well, the lady definitely overpriced our shitty breakfast so I thought why not have a payback?" Jack shrugged, glancing at the chain jewelry on Sonny's hand. "Besides, that necklace is pretty..."
Sonny gawked at his answer, blinking his eyes in bewilderment. Jack could definitely see Sonny's brain go downhill---he was definitely judging Jack for his action. His lack of appreciation for his gift was already an obvious given.
Grunting, Jack took the necklace from Sonny's grasp, mildly shocking the other.
"Well, if you don't like it..." Jack passed the necklace to his friend. "Harp, do you want it?"
Harper shook his head, gently taking the jewelry away from his face, "I am not taking someone else's seconds."
Jack hissed, his brows twitching with his lips frowning. He threw the silver necklace on the dashboard, crossing his arms as he gazed angrily at the car window.
The drive was silent after that, Harper deciding to play some tunes while they continue their long car journey.
