The four of them rode the car once everyone was set and ready. Before they drove away, they all ate some decent breakfast, Jack commenting how it was definitely so much better than the previous motel they stayed into.
Sonny gave Brooklyn a brief glance, the blonde laughing over something Jack said. The other man was slowly getting comfortable with their group, Brooklyn sometimes joining into their mindless conversation.
He was wearing Harper's hoodie to which was honestly too oversized for the man's bony figure but Sonny thought it was adorable on him.
His thoughts went back over that morning. Once him and Jack woke up, the blonde boy immediately apologized to the both of them, thanking the two of them for their kindness and patience.
They brushed him off, Jack inviting the boy to join them for breakfast.Harper was already outside, waiting for them and smoking. The four of them walked together over the closest diner and they savored some French toasts and muffins.
Now, they were currently driving off to the road again, Harper turning the radio on with his happy playlist.
Unlike their usual set up, Jack was sitting beside Sonny on the passengers seats while Brooklyn took the shotgun seat. It was the dirty blonde's request and the taller boy happily obliged.
Brooklyn immediately saw the abandoned chain necklace by the dashboard and he grinned, "This is sick, could I have this?"
Sonny saw Jack nodded his head and smiled, "Suit yourself, sweetheart."
The blonde excitingly secured the jewelry around his neck, checking himself out on the mirror.
"Jack nicked that." Harper muttered, Jack aimlessly shushing him out.
Brooklyn's eyes widened before holding the necklace over his fingers. He glanced back to Jack, gawking before grinning, "Nice catch."
Sonny knew the blonde's reaction made Jack blinked, totally taken aback---believe him, he was too.
He heard Jack laugh before speaking, "Glad you like it."
"No, I love it. It's perfect."
Sonny shook his head in amusement with Harper sighing helplessly on the driver's seat. Brooklyn and Jack exchanged seats again when Harper stopped their vehicle to refill their tank with gas.
With Sonny and Brooklyn sat behind the driver's seat, Harper begun driving. The car was blasting some punk rock music Sonny does not know the title of, and Harper begun asking, "So, Brook, are we going to drop you off somewhere? Do you have a place you need to go to?"
Sonny saw Brooklyn fiddled with Harper's hoodie sleeves, his fingers placed over where his scars were, "I actually have nowhere else to go. I ran away from home."
Sonny's brows furrowed, he desperately wanted to ask the other what the reason was but he did not want to force an answer from the blonde man.
Jack spoke out, "So, what's your plan now?"
"Honestly, I have no idea."
"Well, you can join us." Jack shrugged, looking over his shoulder. "We don't mind having you around."
Sonny heard Brooklyn hum in response, "Where are you guys heading anyways?"
Sonny's mind also begun to wonder, even he has no idea where Harper and Jack were going. He somehow got caught up to their car adventure, not knowing what the pair's goal actually was---all he knows was the two were escaping the law too.
"To paradise." Both Harper and Jack answered, the two sharing a beaming look before smiling at the other pair who were sitting on the back seats.
"And, where exactly is paradise?" Brooklyn asked.
"Somewhere far from here." Harper vaguely answered.
"Like the countryside?"
Jack shook his head, "Think bigger."
"Somewhere in Europe?"
"Bigger."
"Out of the continent? Like America?"
Jack nodded, grinning, "Bingo."
Sonny eyed the pair curiously, "And how would we do that?"
Before Jack could answer, Harper pulled over the car over a small auto shop---him mentioning a flat tire as he excused himself to talk with a repairman.
Jack, Sonny and Brooklyn all went outside the car, going for a quick loo and buying some snacks on the nearby grocery store to fill their stomach.
Sonny saw Harper called for Jack and the Irish man excused himself. They talked outside of the store, the taller boy's gaze briefly pointing at him and Brooklyn's direction. He saw Harper nod his head as he went back to their now fixed car.
Jack approached him and Brooklyn, whispering, "We're going to show you two something."
Curious, they all followed Jack who went over to Harper---the driver parked their car in a near alleyway of the grocery store.
The long-haired man gave Jack the car key and the tall boy quietly inserted it to the compartment. Jack slowly popped the back hood open, with Sonny and Brooklyn gasping---their eyes were gawking on the wads of bills loitering all over the cramped space.
"This is more than enough to sail all four of us to the other side of world." Jack muttered, closing the lid swiftly. "Are you guys in?"
The old Sonny would want to question where the hell the pair got what seemed to be millions of cash---and question their sanity to even think they could pull that plan out.
But with everything that has happened in the short span of five days, Sonny could only mutter, "Definitely."
And, he saw Brooklyn nod his head with Jack grinning and Harper yelling for the three of them to haul their asses back inside the car.
