(TW: a bit vivid and violent death scene, read at your own risk)

A week has passed, the four of them going into the same routine of roadtripping for pretty much the whole day, staying over at motel rooms and always bantering and dissing about their breakfast meals.

Jack felt so happy---thankful that him and Harper stumbled across the other two in the short span of time they were travelling the uncertain road of paradise.

They might all came from different fucked up pasts---Sonny being a murderer, Harper and him being runaways, and Brooklyn being suicidal---but this present felt like all of those weighed nothing. Their time together felt like the golden time of their lives.

Jack breathed in the breezy air as Harper decided to hide the top hood of their car, letting him drive the road with much more space to appreciate their surroundings.

They were jamming to rock music, Bon Jovi's  You Give Love A Bad Name playing loudly in the background.

Jack was standing hazardously on the shotgun seat, his only salvation was the front window he was currently grabbing on.

Brooklyn was the same, both his hands were raised into the air, his feet dangling on his seat as he sat on the back of the car.

Sonny was tightly grabbing on the blonde's legs, afraid the other might fall off and slide through the road.

The worried raven was also asking Jack to sit down on the shotgun seat. Jack grinned, glancing down to Harper who was just smiling adoringly at their silly antics. Sonny started demanding for the two of them to sit down, standing himself to pull Brooklyn back to their seat.

He ended falling at Brooklyn's lap instead, slipping over and hanging tightly at the blonde's hips when Harper drifted to the side. Jack and Brooklyn laughed while Sonny blushed embarrassed, yelling angrily at Harper  who just chuckled at the incident.

The problem started when the dubious night fell in, Jack gazing back into a seemingly suspicious car who was obviously tailing them around. Harper already lifted the roof back up but the car was still endlessly chasing them.

Him and Harper shared glances, the other obviously aware that they were being followed.

Sonny and Brooklyn were dozing off by the passengers seat, the latter leaning over Sonny's shoulder as the pair share a blanket.

Harper quickly turned the car into an alleyway, the car following them close by. Jack cluck his tongue, asking his friend to pull over.

He saw Harper was hesitant but the driver soon nodded. He stopped the car, Jack leaving the vehicle while the tailing car parked over too.

Jack directed Harper to drive Sonny and Brooklyn far away from the scene, making Harper hissed, "You're being stupid right now."

Jack brushed him off, telling the other to hurry up. He saw Harper grit his teeth, stepping over the pedal as he drove straight ahead, leaving Jack with the tailgater.

He walked over a dark corner, the other figure silently following him behind. He knew who was following them, there could only be one culprit who would do this.

"Well, Jack Duff," the figure grinned. "How brave of you to sacrifice yourself for your beloved friends."

The figure was a few meters away from him but he got a gun pointed at Jack's head.

"Go to hell." Jack spat out, making the gunner chuckle.

"Is that how you treat a family?" the figure fake cried. "Your stepfather who clothed and feed you?"
