Good Night

We got our pajamas on after eating our ramen noodles, then we went to the living room.

"Which movie do you wanna watch?" Taehyung asked, scrolling through Netflix.

"Anything horror," I answered darkly, sitting next to him on the couch.

"H-Horror?" Taehyung gulped visibly. "Are you sure you won't be too scared?"

We hadn't even chosen a movie yet he was already terrified.

"I'm sure." I rolled my eyes at the wimp.

He found a scary-looking movie and selected it. He leaned forward and yanked the blanket from the back of the sofa, spreading it over our legs.

Scenes flew across the screen in a blur but I wasn't paying attention. I was only focused on Taehyung.

He had pulled his side of the blanket up to his nose, jumping every now and then.

"I'm gonna go make popcorn," I told him, looking away. He nodded, eyes still fixated on the screen. I threw the blanket off me and leaped over the back of the couch, landing softly.

Searching his cupboards, I hummed quietly to myself. His cupboards were barren. There were a few pots and pans and measuring cups. Some tortilla chips, oreos, and graham crackers.

A blood-curdling scream erupted from the living room followed by a faint THUMP.

What was going on there?

In his fridge was ketchup, mayo, half a gallon of milk, apples, and half a club sandwich in a box.

I walked  back to the living room. This time, Taehyung had the blanket wrapped around his head so just his face was visible. He sat on the ground. I laughed. He jumped and turned to look at me with a cheeky smile on his face.

In all honesty, he looked like a worm.

"What?" he asked.

"You! You look ridiculous!" I laughed again, sitting back down. "And there was no popcorn in the cupboards. There was nothing, actually. What do you eat? Dirt?" I snorted.

"I usually go out to eat," he explained.

"Well, tomorrow we're going grocery shopping."

"Yippee!" he exclaimed dryly.

"Hey! My cooking skills are top-notch!"

"Oh, yeah! You sure showed me with those ramen noodles!" he retorted playfully, pulling himself off the floor and sitting back on the sofa.

"There are exceptions y'know!" I whined, whacking his shoulder.

"Alright Alright!" Taehyung's arms poked out of his blanket in surrender. "I'm turning the movie off. It's getting boring." He shut the TV off so we were just sitting in the dark.

"Good night," I said.

"Night," he responded.

But no one moved.

That would mean we'd have to separate.

And neither of us wanted that.
