2016
A couple weeks later

Kodie sat in the dressing room watching the finished product of her video. She was watching Beyoncé's sound check when she got the text about the video being sent to her.

She was so proud of herself for that video. It was an idea that she thought of with help from Yachty and Beyoncé trusted her vision. She wanted to put it out at that second but she had to run it by Beyoncé first.

Kodie finally signed the papers for Parkwood Management. It wasn't exactly what she wanted but it was close.

Beyoncé finally came in from soundcheck.

"Ma, check this out. They sent me the video." She said.

Beyoncé went over to the couch and sat down. She plugged up her beats into the laptop.

"Awe, you look so cute." Beyoncé gushed after she finished the video kissing her cheek.

"So I can put it out?"

"No. We gonna roll it out. Give them a date like next week and do a count down." She said. "Like five days till Sad ft Lil Yachty premieres."

"Can I have a premiere party?" Kodie asked.

"I'm gonna need more than five days to set that up."

"Please." Kodie begged.

Beyoncé looked at her and rolled her eyes.

"Hand me my phone." She said.

Kodie hopped up getting her phone and handed it to her. Beyoncé went to her calendar.

"June 20th in Atlanta. I'll make it happen for you." Beyoncé said and Kodie hugged her and kissed her cheek.

"Thank you!"

"You're welcome." Beyoncé said then after a minuet. "So I've been thinking."

"About what?" Kodie asked scrolling through her phone.

"About a deal for you." She said. "A couple people interested in you. Epic, Roc Nation, Def Jam, Atlantic, and Parkwood."

"You foreal?"

"Yes." Beyoncé nodding.

"Okay, Parkwood-"

"Wait, you don't wanna take any meetings-"

"No, I want Parkwood. I want you to sign me. You found me." Kodie said.

"No, you found me." Beyoncé said.

"Either way, I'm with you." Kodie said. "What I gotta sign?"

"Calm down." Beyoncé said laughing. "I gotta talk to you about something else too."

Jay walked in the room.

"Right on time. Jay, come sit please." Beyoncé said.

"The both of y'all gotta talk to me?" Kodie asked. "What I do?"

"Nothing. This is about the guardianship." Beyoncé said.

Kodie just looked at them and waited for one of them to speak.

"We filled out the papers the other day." Jay said.

"For real? Like, y'all not playing right?"

"No, we're not playing." Beyoncé said. "We let your group home know already."

Kodie sat there and couldn't believe it. All those lonely nights. Having fun with them as a family for a weekend and then going back to her life was hard to do. Hopefully she won't ever have to do that again.
