"The... Diamonds," Spinel gulped.
"Yeah," Steven sighed. "I... I don't know what to do. Luckily the fountain still has it's healing essence though, so I can heal any gem that corrupted."
Spinel listened, but still held a face of fear. If the Diamonds where willing to attack by those standards... what else would they do to guarantee victory?
"Well, don't worry too much," Steven tried to assure her. "Plus, Pink Pearl-or, Pinky, will be back any moment now. Nice nickname by the way," Steven smiled, placing the Pearl's gem in the water.
Spinel blushed, and smiled sheepishly. She played with her fingers, and looked down to the floor. The two stood in silence while waiting for their friend. Too much was on both of their minds, and each thought it was best to not speak about it. Until a thought popped into Spinel's mind.
"Wait," Spinel muttered, turning to Steven. "What about you?"
Steven raised a brow, "uhh... what about me?"
"If the Diamonds did shoot a blast that corrupted again, and Pinky got corrupted... why didn't you?"
Steven's eyes widened, he stood in silence, staring into space. Spinel tried to get his attention, but he was lost in thought.
Spinel gasped. She swore she saw his skin turn a light pink, but then Pink Pearl's gem started to levitate into the air. It too, gave off a pink light, maybe that was what illuminated Steven. Pink Pearl's silhouette came into view, then she floated to the ground gracefully. She kept the same look, besides adding one thing. She added a star shape opening, that revealed her gem.
Steven and Spinel turned to their friend and smiled. Spinel immediately rushed over to her, and held her in a tight embrace. Pink Pearl hugged back, happy to see a friend. They laughed and smiled... except for Steven. He looked over her new form, noticing the new... leftovers of her corruption. Obviously she would still show signs of it, the two small horns being present on her head. And the patches of dark pink spots, but that's not what troubled Steven. He noticed that her left eye was still, very, cracked! Why didn't it heal like the rest of her? She was in the best place for it!
"Pink Pearl," Steven interjected. "Your eye... why is it still cracked?"
Spinel and Pink Pearl let go of each other, and turned to Steven. Spinel looked up at her friend, and noticed the crack for herself.
"Yeah Pinky, why is it like that still-not that it looks bad on you," Spinel said, blushing.
Pink Pearl laughed at Spinel's flusteredness.
"And... if you don't mind me asking," Spinel started. "Why did White do this to you?"
Pink Pearl laughed an adorable laugh once more. "Oh silly Spinel, White didn't do this, hehe."
"What," Steven and Spinel screamed in shock.
"This was all Pink Diamond."
•••
"Pearl, Pearl," Steven screamed, slightly dragging his friend.
"Oh, Steven! What a lovely surprise," Pearl said. "What can I do fooooor...," Pearl dragged out that last part, getting sight of Pink Pearl. "You?"
Pearl walked over to the three, getting up from the couch. She noticed immediately of the two horns on her head, and the spots on her body.
"Oh no... what happened?"
"The Diamonds attacked... again! I don't think anyone else got hit, at least not here in beach city-but that's not why we're here. Look at her eye," he pointed to it. "I want to help her fix it, but even the fountain didn't do anything!"
