Trying to Smile Again Continued (Steven UniverseUniverse Fic)

Part Eight Chapter Four: Fusion Fray

The Crystal Gems looked around them. Obsidian soldiers circled them completely. They were clearly outnumbered! What were they gonna do?! They needed that bottle!

"Garnet," Pearl whispered as they got back to back.

The Obsidians started to close in on them, taking out their weapons. They smirked as they slowly moved closer.

"We need to fuse... all of us!" Garnet looked at Spinel and flashed her a smile.

Spinel starred up at Garnet. The last time she fused... it didn't end well. She didn't want to fuse... preferably. But she knew that they had too! It was the only way they stood a chance.

Garnet stuck out her hand and smiled warmly. "Trust us."

All the gems smiled at Spinel comfortingly. They all knew she was scared, but if she didn't fuse, she could possibly get hurt. Spinel started up at them with a worried look and a gape mouth. She smiled and nodded, taking Garnet's hand.

They smiled, and got into a group hug. Their gems started to glow and their forms started to fuse. The Obsidian gems started at them in fear. Some tool hesitant steps back while others stood their ground.

"Don't freeze," Obsidian commanded. "Shatter them before they fuse you pebbles!"

The Obsidians rushes the ongoing fusion, only to be swiped away. Some hot the walls hard, causing them to poof. The fusion began to rise and take form. The fusion had four pair of arms (eight total) that were wrapped into one by Spinel's pair of arms (Basically it looks like if all the arms were spiraled together into two arms with four hands on each). And she had three pairs of eyes.

Obsidian glared at the fusion and stood up frustrated. She held the bottle tight her n her arm and starred at the Obsidians she had left. "Get up and fuse you idiots!"

The Obsidians held their heads but did as instructed. They all ran together, fusing into a bigger Obsidian! They were the size of their opponent, Aventurine. The Obsidian fusion was a total of about 30 Obsidians!

Aventurine roared at her opponent, taking out her weapon. It was a giant... SQUEAKY MALLET!!! Aventurine made the first move, springing into the air. She swung down onto the Obsidian fusion and knocked her back slightly.

The Obsidian fusion shook her head and rushed back. She took out her hammer and swung at Aventurine. Aventurine blocked, and did so with some of the following attacks. But then she missed one and got punished for it. She got hit square in the face, luckily not near Pearl's gem.

Aventurine stumbled but stood her ground. She saw the Obsidian fusion charging at her at full speed. Aventurine smirked and used her arms as springs to leap over her. The fusion couldn't stop running in time and ran head first into the wall. It caused a big crack and the ship shook slightly.

"What are you doing you imbeciles?!" Obsidian glared at the Obsidian fusion, and threw her hammer at her. "Shatter them!"

The Obsidian fusion held her head and winced slightly. She shook her head and took out two hammers.

Aventurine saw this and copied her moves. She held two squeaky mallets now. Both of them rushed at the same time, and both blocked! They continued to strike at each other, but blocked each time. Sparks were flying and metal hitting metal echoed through the ship. They starred each other down and Aventurine growled quietly.

They pushed off each other. Obsidian was ready to rush again, being the mindless same gem fusion she was.

Aventurine thought a moment and looked around. There was a piece of the ceiling hanging on by a thread. The fusion smirked and aimed her mallet at the Obsidian fusion. She cartoonishly threw, aiming not perfectly so it tripped the fusion.

The Obsidian fusion fell on her stomach and slid to a stop underneath the shard. Aventurine once again used her arms as springs. She bounced up into the air, going up to the ceiling as the fusion regained consciousness. She took out her hammer and spun like a tornado. When she got to the top, she broke it off easily! She held it with her hand and threw it up, acting like it was a baseball! She aimed carefully, sticking out her tongue in concentration. Then... she swung as hard as she could! The shard flew down at the speed of light! The Obsidian fusion saw it coming, but had no time to react! It pierced her through her chest, and stuck out of the glass floor!

The Obsidian fusion fell to her knees, then poofed! All 30 of em! Aventurine smiled wide as Obsidian's eye twitched. She didn't forget about Obsidian however, quickly turning her head to her. She took her hammer as she fell back to the ground, and threw it like a spear.

Obsidian saw it coming and grunted. "Oh fu-" She poofed instantly, the bottle dropping onto the chair and sliding on the smooth surface. Aventurine smiled wide and bowed like she did an act, but gasped when she saw the bottle.

Aventurine started to unfuse quickly. Amethyst took out her whip and threw the three towards it. Pearl was next, as she took out a spear and threw it for Garnet and Spinel to ride. Garnet kept off of it as Spinel flew by overhead. She grabbed the spear and skillfully threw it at Spinel's. It hit the spear at the perfect angle, boosting Spinel in the air. She stretched her hand out as the bottle plummeted to the floor. Everyone gasped as it got closer to breaking, Spinel started to sweat. She reached out more, her gem starting to glow from her pushing herself.

The bottle was seconds away from shattering, all hope seemed loss! But... Spinel pulled through! She caught it in her palm, and blew up her hand to be a cushion. She fell fast and landed in her hand.

The gems gasped and ran over to make sure Spinel was ok. Once they ran over, she looked dead! Actually! Her eyes were closed and her tongue stuck out.

"SPINEL," they shouted.

They started to tear up, til Pearl frowned. She mentally facepalmed, and stared at Spinel. "Gems don't die... they shatter..."

The others blinked as Spinel burst out laughing. They rolled their eyes and hugged her tight. They had done it! No, Spinel did it! Now they only had one more thing to do... save Steven!
